Lean: Liberal Gender: | Greetings from Penang, Malaysia Hi ALL, the on going obama-hillary election campaign attracted me to this site. Over in Malaysia, a new era has emerged with 5 states had been 'offered' by the ppl of malaysia during the last march8 '08 general election out of 14 states. The current govt is running helter skelter to win back the ppl's confidence but thing are not going as they wished.
Anyway, i am here to see what I can learn from here to further improve especially in the area of human rights, freedom of speech , press freedom , separation of powers. Also wished to understand if similar draconian law called ISA[Internal Security Act] as used by M'sian govt to detain her citizens up to 2yrs without trial EXIST in the US on anyone charged for sedition, as the M'sian govt puts it? Thank you for reading and I welcome any kind of responds....mystiq35@yahoo.com |

Although the United States does not have a program or Law which allows for imprisonment of her citizenship for sedition, some here are worried we may be headed down that path (Patriot Act), and see our precious 1st amendment under attack. There is a minor political movement to prevent this unlikely scenario from occurring.

Sorry , I had missed to include OPPOSITION parties after the word
'offered' in above para. This is a unique combination tri-party merging of DAP[democratic action party- largely headed by chinese] , PKR [ Parti Keadilan Rakyat or Peoples Justice Party where members are multi racial and headed by former ousted Deputy Prime Minister of M'sia -Anwar Ibrahim who is making a comeback after 8 yrs - after completing his 5 yr jail term due to some conspiracy at highest level of the then govt. ] and PAS [ Parti Islam Malaysia- a staunch Islamist party] Will share more if required...... |
