I have found this website bookmarked on the PC browser at the flat I am staying in for the next few months. As I am generally an argumentative sort of fellow, after browsing some of the threads I have decided I will come here and argue with you people!

Wit is needful
to him who travels far:
at home all is easy.
A laughing-stock is he
who nothing knows,
and with the instructed sits.

Well, good! And I hope that makes your life in the real world a bit more peaceful. ;)

Welcome!

Sure, come on in, the water is fine.

You killed Athelstan!

I hate you! ;)

I did not like that Christian Athelstan. He offended my fundamentalist viking spirit, so I freed him to be with his god. ;)

I love the series. ;)
I love it too. I particularly enjoy watching it in Europe, where we get the full unedited episodes that are on average 15 minutes longer than those aired here in the states. And of course I prefer the more bloody and nude R rated version of the show over the PG rated one that airs here in the US.

Also, I am wondering if any of you can assist me in getting my profile picture set up. I have tried several times to do so, I have made sure that the image is smaller than 64kb and is 100x100 yet each time I do I get a message saying the file has failed to upload. I have tried gif and jpeg yet get the same result each time.

Yep. Witt comes easy. Enjoy yourself. I look forward to it.

I had the same problem so I gave up and just taped the photo directly to my screen. I do spend a lot of time trying to get it lined up, so I end up posting less as a result. I've received letters of appreciation from the moderators for the sparsity of my posts. They have in fact suggested that I tape more photos to my screen. It's nice when the moderators take such a personal interest in posters here.

Welcome!

Howdy Doody, Floki!

I don't know where your head is at yet, but we sorely do need one with wits here.

Ha! As you can see I was able to overcome a case of operator error and get both my profile and avatar pictures posted!

Welcome Floki. From where do you hail?

'Flat' makes me think UK, or EU.

LOL. OK. Floki.
Well I am. Of course I have also spent much of my life in Europe and split my time now between America and Rotterdam. Sometimes Ipswich also. The funny thing is that I call my flat a flat. My employer calls it an apartment and the sign on the gate of my flat says it is a condominium!

Fair enough. Someone with one foot on the continent and one foot in the colonies should make from some interesting perspectives to read.

Welcome again.

Welcome Floki! May your Viking Spirit shine! In time you may find yourself agreeing with me, that we who devote serious thought to DP include rich and poor, brilliant and dim-witted. From your view in Texas, please update us from time to time on the progress of the soon-to-be magnificent wall. From the shores of Alaska, Sarah Palin remains ever vigilant of a Russian invasion. Some of us in America have begun preparing for our newest domestic threat... known as a Triple T Storm... IOW, a Trump Temper Tantrum. May our best times lie ahead!

Greetings most trippy one. I can tell you already that I quite agree with you about the brilliant and dim witted here at DP. I'm not actually in Texas, I was born there. Since I work in intermodal logistics and drayage I tend to live and work in coastal cities. I am pretty sanguine about the coming of the T-storm as you say. And like he said in his speech today, I find that I agree with both of you. May our best times lay ahead indeed.

Welcome.

You do realize you'll need to be quite the colorful character to live up to that name, right? ;)

I quite resemble the actor who plays him. I'm tall and lanky, and sadly growing balder by the day. My friends and family say I am mischievous like him too, so maybe this will be less a stretch for me than you might think.

A fool gapes
when to a house he comes,
to himself mutters or is silent;
but all at once,
if he gets drink,
then is the man’s mind displayed.

Welcome to Fake Hell. I read that in some Fake News somewhere. ;)
