Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there.

Cool. I love your Avatar. Nichole Williamson was a fantastic actor. His voice was amazing. I loved the narration of the hobbit he did in the late 1970's

I remember the local radio station KDKB played the original LP version on air each day for a 1/2 hr over 4 days in 1974.

Yeah, I'm that old...

Hello and welcome to the forum nic11. Hope you enjoy yourself here!

Love the avvy. Still one of my favorite, now old, movies.

Bill Compton, genius.

Hey, if you like that KDKB type of music, plus new stuff that you will like. There is a great internet radio station staffed by KDKB, old KSLX, K104, KSTM folks who play commercial free progressive rock. But, for fun, they play old radio ads from the 70's as well. Jerry Riopelle sits in every once in a while, his son has a show on weekends, and there is a great Zappa show, rockabilly and other fun stuff.

I'm Phoenix too!

That's awesome, thanks. I'm definately checking it out.

Do you listen to KPHX at all?

A little bit of everything. I like KFI 640 out of LA.

Good, keeps you informed of all sides.

I like Leo Laporte, he's on sundays.

I like Bruce on KTAR. No yelling, no screaming, no talking points radio.

I'm sure you mean St. James.

Bruce Jacobs on that other station was an unlistenable Hannity clone....

Yeah, St. James. Jacobs is just a jock, he sells copiers now...

My most favorite-est listening... It's playing at this moment.

I'm friends with Andy and Liz and Charmi and Joe Cat, known some of them for decades. They also do deepoldies.com, but the DJ's use different names.

Also friends with the guy that does Zappa Universe, he is a talented singer himself, plays gigs all over town.

RFA is great when they play old comedy stuff, Cheech & Chong, Fireside Theater, Credibility Gap, Monty Python, etc. They have a lot of fun there.

They are doing a show with an artist that is bound for stardom, Dylan Gardner. He has been a friend of the station for a long time, he just graduated high school, has his first major label album out. The kid is amazing, writes his own stuff, plays guitar, base, drums and keyboard, and he is a hell of a nice guy to boot. He performed at one of the RFP picnics one year, along with Hans Olson, and a few others, Jerry Riopelle was there too, another really nice guy who spends half the year in PHX, the other half in Kona.

All Those guys do an exceptional broadcast.. I guess I've not paid close attention to Dylan Gardner... RFP is almost always on as background..

I haven't been home for awhile; they help me maintain sanity...

Enjoy life

Good to hear you listen. They really do this as a passion, no one is making a dime off it. Andy was PD at KSLX for years, and was on KSTM for a long time. Liz was at KSLX for at least 15 years, before they computerized the station. She does a lot of voice over work for Channel 5, and for corporate films, overdubs, etc. Hard work to get into but pays nice, and you can do it at home. I went to High School with her, good large first generation Irish family.

Here is Dylan's first official video, he is a fanatic for Beatles and Todd Rungren, writes good pop stuff.

And, he got some fame for his Abbey Road in 15 seconds cuts.

wow ! That boy has his "poop in a group" .... Impressive.

I ran across RFP about 9 years ago; read of them in a local rag... I was impressed with them but thought they might need to call on all the tribal Shamans and dancers to bless the group and keep them broadcasting... hard to believe they've been on about 10 years.... singularly quite impressive in itself.

I'm in the 48 but far from home and am quite thankful for their exceptional work.

I'm not a city type and almost ache for the openness of the Sonoran Desert.

I now return you to the regularly scheduled program... Welcoming NIC to DP :)

Have a great day B
