    Hello Sherman,

I'm pretty new here myself but I have been having a pretty good time. Learned some things I didn't even know existed. Came to understand more about different POVs and how they can be in conflict yet agree at the same time.

Most are very nice. Like anywhere in the world, there are a few consistently smug and obnoxious ones but they are a distinct minority.

    So, welcome!

    Re: Hello there

I'm looking forward to it, I've been absent a board for a while. It is difficult to find the right mix of heavy activity, quality, and the good sort of people. I like everything so far, one thing I'm wondering is whether the civility aspect of the forum, admirable though it is, might strip some of the fun out of things. Not sure if it is appropriate to ask, but has that been anyones experience? I should add I'm not usually one to descend to that point, but it is fun to watch and it builds culture and community I think.

As a General rule...the Mods here will not hit you too hard for calling a spade a spade. As long as you do not arbitrarily attack a member, you will be warned or wrist slapped.

Be cool, and use the ignore function as needed to avoid the worst and you will have plenty of fun.

    Welcome to DP.

If personal jabs are your thing, there is always the basement.

This is a good forum, lots of different points of view, lots of members. Enjoy.
