Why is Toronto so less affordable than Dallas-Fort Worth?

Well it is a tech hub, that is probably why.

Dallas is a tech hub as well. Dallas austin and san antonio make up silicon prairie which competes directly with silicon valley. Dallas hosts more of the super tech giants and tech jobs, while austin hosts more of the creative and innovative tech jobs.

The downside though is austin has a much higher cost of living than dallas,The upside is austin is much nicer. Austin is nicer mostly because it is more upscale, dallas has many problems with crime, especially among minority roups and gangs. When I see a major crime listed on the news, it is usually dallas/ft worth, houston, waco, and killeen.

Wait Killeen is a real place?

So the San Francisco of Texas. I have only ever heard of the Silicon Hills in Austin.

Based soley on the talent selection offered on "Austin City Limits", I'm inclined to say I like Austin.

My only problem might be, it's surrounded by Texas!

Well technically it is Texas, the capital is Austin.

Comon, you can see my joking intent there.

It's the same way I love Chicago, but too bad it's surrounded by Illinois! :2razz:

Well apparently more people live in DFW and get paid more then people in Toronto, There are some really crappy places in Tex, DFW ain't one of them.

Pete just hates the US. Hates it. HATES it.

Idiotic statement. Have you spent any time in Texas? Toronto has plenty of it's own nice areas, and their fair share of dumpy areas, and I know this from experience.

Of course Toronto has "dumpy" areas.. but it does not have Texans :)

Pay rates are lower in Toronto than D/FW. Both metropolitan areas have a similar population. However a recent construction three bedroom, single family home costs about US$1700 per month to rent in D/FW. A similar home is about US$3000 per month in Toronto. Gasoline is US$1.78 per US gallon in D/FW. It's almost US$3 in Toronto. There's no state income tax in D/FW. Why is life in Toronto less prosperous than in Texas?

If you really want to see an odd price comparison, you might like this one. Why is milk so expensive in Toronto compared to London and so many other things so cheap?

You should know the answer.... but dont worry London prices will start going up soon on milk and others as well.

Since when is Texas the US? This is the problem with American conservatives.. they see displeasure of anything American as an insult on the whole nation. Grow up and understand it aint.

As if I'm wrong.

We have quotas and subsides for farmers. The dairy industry receives a lot support from the government especially in Ontario and Quebec.

The EU has been trying to phase out those particular socialist programs for some time now. :)

Like any other country :)

Wait Killeen is a real place?

Yes it literally is, I work in that city and commute away from it. It is the main city surrounding fort hood, the armies largest base. It is part of the greater temple killeen waco, has the greater austin area to the south, and is one of the fastest growing cities in texas, due to military presence.
