Greetings, Grand Mal. :2wave:
They recently tried to legalize it in Ohio, and it failed - mostly because only a few people would have been given the authority to grow and sell it - IOW, your reference to very ugly people getting rich would have been the case. Had it been written that everyone that wanted to could grow their own, most people would probably have voted for it!
What many Canadians don't know is that is exactly what the Consservatives tried to do, and one of the reasons they are the ex-government. Harper had put regulatory restrictions on who could grow pop, removing self growers from the equation. Every court that faced it, rejected it and the law was killed once and for all a month or so ago.
What was under the table, was that Harper's business buddies were poised to step in with some high volume grow ops.
By keeping the concept of anyone with a diagnosis can grow it without much restriction on how much, we seem to have kept both the illegal gangs and the government gang out of the equation, and kept prices low.
