Re: Navy SEALs Face Assault Charges for Capturing Most-Wanted Terrorist

They are fighting the charges including the part about lying about it. Giving false statement is mandatory for any of the charges to stick. Remember, they're trying to pin these guys as having punched him and then lying about the incident afterwards. I find it ironic that some already believe they lied.

The SEALs had the option of taking a Captains Mast which would have given them a slap on the wrist but a permanent mark in their profile (records). They are fighting this tooth and nail saying they did nothing of the sort.

Navy SEALs have secretly captured one of the most wanted terrorists in Iraq — the alleged mastermind of the murder and mutilation of four Blackwater USA security guards in Fallujah in 2004. And three of the SEALs who captured him are now facing criminal charges, sources told FoxNews.com.
The three, all members of the Navy's elite commando unit, have refused non-judicial punishment — called an admiral's mast — and have requested a trial by court-martial.

This is absolutely disgusting and will only serve to put our service members in further danger by making them ever more hesitant and second guessing of their actions.

I LOVE the part about refusing NJP. Anyone who has served or is familiar with this procedure I think will also appreciate how they didn't just bend over.

Ahmed Hashim Abed, whom the military code-named "Objective Amber," told investigators he was punched by his captors — and he had the bloody lip to prove it.

I could understand if he was tortured or raped, but a bloody lip? The detainee probably tried spitting on the SEAL or commented on how he was glad the four members of Blackwater were strung up and burned (one of which was a former SEAL, and the youngest SEAL in history) and then took a punch to the face.

What a joke, where does this end? What a horrible slippery slope this incident is creating.
If all he got was a bloody lip from the deal, then que sera sera. I mean, it would have been different if he came out with all sorts of busted bones and ****. But a bloody lip, that's nothing.

Interesting that CNN doesn't seem to think this is a story. I saw nothing on their website about it. Just an oversight? Or perhaps covering up another embarassing story for this administration that won't sit well with most Americans?

That sounds the most accurate for why they wouldn't have a story, because they will be guilty by association for Obama's miserable first year.

Maybe they suspect it's a bull**** charge.

Perhaps, then they should mention that, too. To ignore the story altogether is.....well, journalism as done today by CNN.

an indicator of the times we live in.

The President pardons a turkey.

Seals doing their duty go to court martial.

Disgusting.

This is just embarrasing... they should've just capped the guy.

Though they shouldn't have lied about it I suppose.
I actually agree. The war itself is about violence. It's about killing and maiming people on a large scale. That's what happens in war. Who does it really benefit to get sidetracked by petty crap like this? It's like having airmen drop 3000 lb. bombs that blow civilians to bits but make a big deal if they write "take this, fags!" on the bombs. If anyone is going to be prosecuted for war crimes, it should be those at the top of the power hierarchy who pushed for this whole mess to begin with.

Re: Navy SEALs Face Assault Charges for Capturing Most-Wanted Terrorist

It's a great tragedy that our soldiers are forced to second guess themselves constantly in dangerous situations, putting their own lives in greater jeopardy because they might be brought up on ludicrous charges if they don't make the right split second decision. They get seconds to make a decision that courts can spend months or years tearing apart. Anyone who remembers the ultimate sacrifice made by the heroes of SEAL Team 10 knows what the consequences of this can be.
