Conservative radio host popular onetime Hannity guest charged with inciting violence

Radio host Hal Turner has been taken into custody and arrested for inciting violence after he blogged that Connecticut Catholics need to take up arms against 2 lawmakers and a state ethics official. Here is what Turner posted in his blog:

Quote:

"It is our intent to foment direct action against these individuals personally," the blog stated. "These beastly government officials should be made an example of as a warning to others in government: Obey the Constitution or die."
And, the post continued, "If any state attorney, police department or court thinks they're going to get uppity with us about this; I suspect we have enough bullets to put them down too."

My question to everyone is the following: Where does free speech end and hate speech begin? The First Amendment is fine and dandy, but when you advocate killing, you have gone over the line, and your rights to free speech end right there.

As soon as you infringe on someone else's right to be secure in their person, you have crossed the line. Ranks right up their with yelling "fire" in a crowded theater.

Rallying people to protest is one thing. Rallying people to kill others simply because you don't agree with their politics or whatever is another. This guy is an extremist idiot and deserves to be locked up. When you advocate violence and even death against others you go outside the realms of free speech.

There is no First Amendment issue here.

The First Amendment gives every man the right to speak his mind. What the First Amendment does not do is give any man the right to breach the peace, nor to conspire to commit murder and mayhem.

Had Turner been content merely to deride the targets of his wrath as traitors to the Constitution, he would have had sanctuary under the First Amendment. He was not so content, and so he does not have sanctuary under the First Amendment.

Turner is communicating a threat of violence and inciting others towards the commission of that violence. He's a tool and I am glad he was taken into custody. I hope he's convicted, does some time, and is forever known as that "Whacked Up Hal Turner Nut."

No problem with what? The fact that he was mentioned? I think it gives people a frame of reference. People probably never would have heard of the guy if it weren't for Hannity having him as a guest. I don't think they are implying that Hannity is somehow in league with this guy.
