Blagojevich's Senate Pick Meets With Reid, Durbin
WASHINGTON (CBS) ―

Senate leaders began to clear the way for Roland Burris to take over President-elect Barack Obama's vacant seat, saying they wanted the issue resolved quickly.

Burris met Wednesday with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Sen. Dick Durbin, a day after his paperwork was rejected at the opening of the 111th Congress.

Wow so Blago comes out looking like the bull, the dems wrangling now is rather pathetic. So much for Reids promise eh?

Re: Senate Dems May Seat Burris, But No Final Deal

So, the Senate Democrats unanimously sign a letter to Blago insisting that any appointment would be inappropriate and that they would not seat such an appointment.

Then Blago defies them, hyper-race baiters like Bobby Rush and others dare the Senate not to seat a black guy, and Burris goes to the Capitol on swearing in day... and ... the Democrats crumble with Feinstein now arguing that Burris should be seated.

Pathetic.

Just reinforces the long-held and long-true perception that Democrats have no political principles. They simply maneuver according to their own perception of how their behavior/actions will "look" to others.

Gutless.

Perhaps soon-to-be, but not convicted of anything. Blago has a duty to appoint someone, and not to do so would be an impeachable offense in his state. no?

Although I do not agree that Blago should be allowed to seat anyone, it is his duty as Governor. This could be good news for Republicans. The frustration of how Burris was seated could give a Republican a better chance of taking the seat in 2010.

There has only been one Illinois Republican in the United States Senate since the 60s though, so I do not have much hope for that.

I thought that it was found out that it would be unconstitutional for the Democrats to not seat Burris.

Yeah - Reid found that out too. Burris will be seated and I'm glad. He will be a great senator and I'm happy for him.

I think Buress was a great pick, but was a little wary of the circumstances, it appears to be legal and he is the senator, so......good luck Mr. Buress.
