He did. I remember being suprised by that.

Aye, I remember being shocked by it. Still, though, if they made clear their opposition to gay marriage then the liberals who voted for him should hardly be having a wee cry when he keeps company like this. People need to learn how to listen.

This Pastor is a great speaker and will attract the more conservative. I have attended a few Sunday's at the church. It's actually more of a stadium then a church and has a huge glass wall on one side.

It's a brilliant choice by Obama to cross the party lines. Gays may hate him for choosing this pastor but they will soon see this pastor's political views on gays has nothing to do with the speech he will give and have zero impact on the gay community as a whole.

Obama said something similar during one of the Presidential debates.

The Pastor hopefully will not be setting policy.

He's just making an introduction speech. Not joining as a cabinet member.

Re: Obama's new pastor controversy -- at inauguration

This is quite puzzling indeed. Here you got a Pastor, who ideologically and categorically stands against the social "liberties" that Obama stands for. A representative of many of those who vehemently oppose President-elect Obama. Poles-apart opposites.

Yet, Obama asks this pastor to be a part of his inauguration and even bestows the high honor of allowing this pastor to swear him in as an American President.

Hmmmmmmm.....

We can spin this and say that Obama The Great is reaching out to give the appearance that he is being inclusive, all is forgiven, let's all work together, it's a new day, yada, yada, yada, yada...........

But, myself, I think it's more like Obama sayin', "Hey Preacher. We met toe-to-toe. You put your ideology out on the battlefield and so did I. You and your social army got your ass kicked. Now bend over, kiss my boots, and swear me in beotch!"

How humilating that must be for the preacher. Myself, if I were that preacher, I'd tell Obama to go swear in himself.

I would gladly welcome a social conservative change in the Obama administration if anything.

He said the he, himself did not support gay marriage. He supports "civil unions" which is the same of marriages, legally. Using, the Hussein administration does not recognize whether or not homosexual civil unions are marriages.

Best political position to take if you do not want to offend anybody.

That's a nice there Skipper but Obama isn't asking Pastor Warren to perform a gay marriage, he is bestowing an honor on him. Warrens positions are as offensive to gays as if a white president were to have the Grand Poobah of the Aryan Nation holding the bible for him.

That type of bitterness is exactly why America is completely separated by party lines.
