Funny – real funny.
I’ve sat back and watched this thread unfold and finally decay into exactly the pile of hypocrisy that I thought it would. People hypocritically claiming that Obama’s statements on Iran, make him a neophyte not ready to lead, are some of the most hypocritical comments to date. John McCain’s silly brigade is out in full force on this one.
It was McDeregulation himself who wrote the song: “Bomb, Bomb, Bomb Iran.” It was McDeregulation himself who said directly after 911 that: “the only problem we have is to figure out which country to bomb,” when asked what the U.S. response should be to the attacks on September 11th, 2001. It was McDragitoutforever, who said that he had no problem with remaining in Iraq, for the next 100 years. Now, Obama, is being tagged the clueless one? Pleeeeze. Spell me.
Here is what Kissinger actually said:
YouTube - Henry Kissinger: High Level Negotiations with Iran
Now, I don’t care what
level Obama and/or Kissinger initiate talks at with Iran. The very fact that these two men are on the same page and John McIcantmakeupmymind can’t seem to figure out that diplomacy (first) is far superior to bombing (first), is proof positive to any serious minded individual that John McBombIran, is nowhere near fit for the role of Commander In Chief of our Armed Services. Furthermore, anyone who actually thinks that they are going to be successful in changing the hearts and minds of a culture that has been on earth for thousands of years, with a bombing campaign and/or a coup/regime change campaign, has completely lost whatever little mind the might have had before going completely insane.
Our form of “Democracy” is not a one size fits all generic solution for the entire world. There are civilizations that have existed on planet earth thousands of years prior to the genesis of our Declaration of Independence and they are not simply going to change just because we don’t like their way of life. The silly, World Police, Neoconservative ideological nonsense, if allowed to continue as a White House Doctrine, will be our undoing – it will lead us (The United States of America) to an premature death because the rest of the world will have righteous justification to view us as Imperialists.
This entire question is silly. Should the President of the United States engage in direct un-conditioned diplomacy with countries that don’t like us, is a
red herring false premise from the word go. The People of Iran
DO NOT HATE THE PEOPLE OF AMERICA. They hate the
policies of our Federal Government that involves us in their affairs causing root and systemic decay within their own society. That’s what they hate. They hate our toying with their way of life through our Intelligence Community and they fear our involvement in their nation’s future with our Military.
The Iranian People remember 1953 and how our CIA along with British Intel engaged in cover operations to take down Mosaddeq, a man they approved of as their nationalistic leader. The Iranian People never forgot that. They are not stupid people – they know that the American People are not out to “get them” but that the American government has in the past, demonstrated its willingness to dismantle their country from within via covert tools and tactics.
Of course, you want to talk directly with Iran at the highest level possible to lower the nuclear rhetoric as low as possible. Nuclear War
IS NOT AN OPTION! Thus, we had BETTER have a President sitting in the White House doing everything he can to discuss matters of downgrading the nuke fears as much as possible with ALL of our so-called “enemies.” To do anything less would be totally insane.
Precondition or no-precondition – that’s not the point. The point is to start SOMETHING constructive with these people before we find ourselves picking depleted uranium 235 and plutonium 239 out of our teeth. The same hold true with North Korea and Pakistan as well, two nations that ALREADY have nuclear weapons capacity/potential. Now, is not the time to be running around plant earth labeling entire countries card carrying members of the “Axis of Evil” club, like some petulant school yard bully/child.
When nations arrive at the door of nuclear weapons technology (which all modern nations will eventually obtain one way or another), it makes the entire concept of war completely obsolete. War itself becomes the enemy and a super high premium is then applied to
strategic diplomacy.
If we were really smart, we would start developing College and University level advanced courses on
International Diplomacy Techniques & Strategies, because that is where our continued freedom and our future will be won or lost. We should be educating our future Presidents (right now!) in the art of strategic diplomacy from high school through college.
Doing anything less is flat out dumb.
