As he touched down in suburbs outside of Milwaukee and Detroit, the just-crowned Republican nominee found himself first on the newly fashioned signs proclaiming the unlikely GOP ticket, but seemingly second in the hearts of the thousands who thronged rallies to catch their first glimpse in person of Sarah Palin.

McCain drew loud applause, first at a morning appearance in the downtown of a quaint, Republican-leaning Wisconsin village and then at a more boisterous amphitheater rally here in Michigan’s working-class Macomb County.

Yet it was Palin who many, especially women, in both crowds were thrilled to see up close just days after she exploded onto the national political scene.

Looks like Palin is a real hit amongst the women. Would be curious to see female voter turnout this time for the Reps.

I have to say McCain is the cunning devil (just joking

) now he has consolidated his Rep base, rallied both religious right and possibly the women to his side (don't forget the whites ofc would be biased towards his side) in one fell swoop just by picking Sarah Palin as VP, brilliant move. Lazy bastard too

I can see how she would rally the conservative base, since she is so far to the right she makes Bush look like a democrat. But if women vote for her just because of her gender, then this is a sad day in America. I'd like to think the women of America would look at her stance on important issues before voting for Palin just because of her genetalia.

Are you kidding? The average American is too busy trying to figure out where they are going to come up with the money to pay the mortgage since they sucked all the equity out to buy new cars, flat screen TVs... now they owe more than the house is worth.

These Sheeple will catch the sound bites here and there. The majority of Americans who even bother to vote are low-info voters.

Sadly you are correct, I'm sure that's how we ended up with two terms of Bush...

GOP appeal public by a circus show (9/4/08)

Republican are so desperate like a drawn man to hold anything - even a straw. They beat the drum on a V.P. selection, try to appeal more sights from public and make it more or less like a circus show or a beauty pageant. It seems not a president campaign but a V.P. campaign for GOP.

GOP will win if moose votes.
