I hope that the LP sticks to its guns and files a lawsuit over this. It it had been the LP that had filed late, the Dems and Reps would have had them shut out of the election in no uncertain terms.

According to documents obtained by the Barr campaign, neither John McCain nor Barack Obama complied with Texas Election Code § 192.031, which requires that filings must be submitted “before 5 p.m. of the 70th day before presidential Election Day," listing the "names of the party's nominees for president and vice-president."
The deadline, which was set at 5 p.m. on August 26, passed before Sen. Obama was nominated and before Sen. McCain had even selected his running mate.

Palin's nod wasn't announced until August 29th and made official later. Biden was under the wire on August 23rd but wasn't official until August 27th. Neither party had officially named their candidates in time for this deadline anyways.

I think they should leave it just the way it is. It's gonna hurt McCain more than Obama likely since Texas has been gerimandered.

Damned straight they should have to follow the rules as anyone else. You think they would make exceptions for third parties? Hell no. So why do the main parties get treated specially? The deadlines where known, they should have gotten the paperwork in; they didn't, they pay the consequence. That simple. The LP has been doing some things lately which I haven't approved of, let's hope they don't continue down that path. This should be fought.

Does this mean McCain loses Texas? Oh My....Obama should push for this so hard.....

Texas Election 2008 Polls 2008 Election Presidential Election Polls

It'll hurt McCain more then it'll hurt Obama.

Well ah, um, oh, yeah, I guess this applies to your vote as well as any other within Texas.
Unless of course that Dallas Texas is no longer considered by you to actually be in the state of Texas?

Re: Barr demands Texas Ballot be enforced

This won't actually matter. Even if the LP does manage to keep the Dems and GOP off of the ballot, both of them will spend millions to ensure write-ins. Still, I predict that both of the parties will find some way to circumvent the laws and get on the ballot. Typical, but predictable.
