My Way News - More than 40 million people see Palin speech

NEW YORK (AP) - Barack Obama apparently isn't the only "rock star" in presidential politics this year.

After days of intense media coverage about Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin's qualifications, more than 40 million Americans tuned in Wednesday to see for themselves what they thought of her.

correction, with both using pbs numbers it is 41.5 vs 38 million. also 28 was a typo.

Re: More than 40 million people see Palin speech

I am not so sure all those viewing are going to be voting for McCain/Palin.

I know that when I saw the speech I was turned off by it. More the same that both the Dems and Reps are going to offer, negativity.

The speech did nothing to sway me over.

According to the Washington Post, Obama still had a higher number of viewers:

Quote:
Palin draws 37 million viewers, just shy of Obama

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, unknown to most Americans a week ago, nearly matched Barack Obama's record TV audience with her feisty speech on Wednesday accepting the Republican nomination for vice president, topping 37 million U.S. viewers.

The 38.4 million viewers averaged by Obama as he accepted the Democratic nomination for president last Thursday in Denver is believed to stand as the biggest commercial TV audience ever for a single night of a U.S. political convention, Nielsen said on Thursday.

Riding a wave of public fascination with her meteoric political rise and the intrigue surrounding her personal life, Palin's Nielsen tally of 37.2 million viewers in her prime-time television debut fell just shy of Obama's total.

I can no more claim "all those viewers" will vote for McCain than you can claim "all them viewers" who watched obama will be voting for him.

Re: More than 40 million people see Palin speech

Correct me if I am wrong, but I have never heard more excitement about the VP nomination than the Presidential nomination. Even McCain bought into the hype?

Palin was more of what the Neo Cons wanted, so she became the darling of the GOP, and Palin delivered . . . . . . . the same type of bashing we have been hearing from GW, Cheney, Rove, and the Neo Con Biased Pundits.

The higher numbers don't automatically equate to the GOP winning, they equate to the US people wanting to meet and hear Palin for the first time. Obama, McCain, and Biden, all are familiar to the American public.

neocons are large government social liberals. Palin is no neocon. sorry.
