Bob Woodward's new book on the Bush administration is coming out on Monday, and it is extremely critical of Bush and his cohorts. Even John McCain skewers Bush royally in this book.
Which brings me to McCain himself. I am an unabashed McCain basher at the present time, but I have to admit - If McCain does pull off a miracle, and wins this election, I won't really feel bad about it at all. Despite my differences with both McCain and Obama, I will be the first to tell you that either of them will be better than the sack of **** we have had in office for the last 8 years. Yea, I could get behind a McCain presidency. I will still be voting for Bob Barr this fall, but yea - McCain? I can live with him as president.
You ask me why? Very simple. He may be kissing up to Bush right now, but as I have said in the past, people are judged not by what they say, but by what they do. And although I have always used this expression to show how McCain's words belie all the things he is promising, it is also clear that this expression shows that he will not be like Bush at all. To be fair, I must apply that expression equally to both sides of the enigma that is John McCain. When I do apply it equally, I find that John McCain is not such a bad guy, nor would be be such a bad president, compared to what we have now.
Yes, I will continue to bash McCain right up until the election, and I am still going to vote for Barr and Root in November, but you know what? If McCain is the winner, I am more than willing to give him a chance to show that all his BS about being a different leader than Bush is really true. I have a feeling it will be a lot truer than most people think. It may also be a lot truer than the Bushneviks who now support him hope it will be. To the Neocons - Be careful of what you wish for. You just might get it.
If McCain wins, I will definitely give him a chance.

NOTE: Damn, got carried away, went off on a tangent, and derailed my own thread in the very first post. Is that a DP record?
