Detroit Mayor pleads Guilty and Resigns

"I lied under oath," Kilpatrick told the court, conceding what growing numbers of Detroiters have suspected for months –he covered up an affair with his former chief of staff, Christine Beatty, as part of a lawsuit settlement that cost the city $8.4 million.

A bit of non-election race news. Just hit. The first line was interesting to me though because we had a poster claiming all of Michigans economic problems were due to Bush and the GOP, with no proof of such a claim, and here we see that Detroit...its biggest city...had a government that was "crippled" for the past year. But naturally that in no way, shape, or form affected the economy in any way.

Its a good thing for the city of Detroit to have this over with. Whether you think the scandal was worth while or not, a city deserves an active and attentive mayor..especially one hurting as bad as Detroit is. Hopefully they can get a new one in there and start moving things forward in a positive direction.

Oh, interesting note for those that like to look at media bias and will surely point this out. The first mention that he was a democrat anywhere in it is on paragraph 14.

illterate space aliens might not know that the mayor of Detroit is a Democrat, but for everyone else it's pretty much immediately assumed.

Doesn't really much, while I do think from history republican politicians seemed to get mentioned FAR earlier in stories, its not a huge issue to me. However, I know this comes up in most of these types of stories so figured put that bit of information out there instead of people going to search for it and start it up.

Oh you mean like how Republican lobbyist Jack Abramoff guilty of corruption charges was sentenced to prison today got nearly no coverage whatsoever because the Republican convention was bigger news?
Try again rev. both the detroit mayor and Abramoff got sidelined. The only bias here is you're trying to play the victim card. Oh wooo is me, the damn liberal media constantly battering and attacking my peeps.
