Obama campaign raised $52 million in June

Obama campaign raised $52 million in June - Yahoo! News

Quote:
WASHINGTON - Democrat Barack Obama's presidential campaign says it raised $52 million last month.

The Obama campaign and the Democratic National Committee ended the month of June with a combined total of nearly $72 million in the bank.

Last week the campaign of Republican John McCain reported raising more than $22 million in June, which was his best month of the year.

Together, the McCain campaign and the Republican National Committee began July with about $95 million in the bank.
I'm not too up to date on campaign financing but is this good for Obama? or McCain? Somebody mind explaining what these numbers mean?

It's really no surprise. The general campaign flow actually differs from what most people want to believe. Republicans tend to get the good portion of their campaign donations from individuals and families while Democrats get it from corporations and multimillionaires (the vast majority being the latter). With times hurting middle America as much as it has (not to mention a monstrously bad Republican rep), Obama should be burying McCain under the weight of cold, hard cash.

How much of the money came from overseas or special interest groups? I'd be interested to know exactly who is buying the favors of a possible future President. Tell me again why he didn't want the US public funds? Don't feel so chuffed that Obama is beating McCain in this area. It is a nasty can of worms.

That doesn't seem to be the case in this election cycle. The average donation to Obama's campaign is a little over $60.

And I have no doubt he'll do just that, unless McCain picks Romney as VP and Romney feels like self-financing the campaign.

Didn't he predict 100 million at one time?

Well this isn't the business world, this is politics. And Obama's stock has gone from $63 to $69 in the last month.
