Meat Packer Admits Slaughter of Sick Cows

The CEO of a meat packing company has admitted under oath that his company did indeed introduce sick cows into the human food chain. At first, he denied it, but then after being confronted with videos, made the admission.

You know, between China and our own food producers, I don't know who is going to kill us all off first. Anyone care to start a betting pool?

Article is here.

Why would this "kill us all off?" Cows aren't suddenly poisonous because they're "downer cows."

Eating sick cows is bull****.

I want hormone fed cows that are bigger and stronger.

My statement would be lost on those who don't have a sense of humor.

Huh? A downer cow has the potential to be afflicted, don't you think?

Sure, as does a regular cow.

Think about how many millions of downed cattle there are each year. Then think about the fact that there have been THREE cases of mad cow in the US in all of recorded history.

Banning all downed cattle because of mad cow fears (especially considering that the two are only tangentially related) is like using an AK47 to shoot a fly.

Yes, but a downed cow, unlike a regular cow, is showing signs of affliction. It could be nothing, or it could be something potentially hazardous. You want to take that risk? Are you ok with it? Or would you prefer that they abide by the USDA rules and have them checked by a veterinarian before their meat can enter the food supply?

Remember how many people died in the UK?

99.9999999% of the time which have nothing to do with mad cow.

Absolutely. It's safer than taking a walk.

Of course I'd prefer that, given that that's the law. This company broke that law and is being punished. Doesn't mean that all downer cows are somehow bad.

Yea, 165 in all of recorded history. Not scary.
