....this is ridiculous. The Catholic church has no standing on this issue. They're advocating a draconian measure for the sake of religion. Seriously. Have the lives of the living become equivalent to a few knuckle children dying inside a rubber?

The problem isn't the Catholic church, it's all the sheeple who ascribe to their doctrine instead of thinking for themselves. If the Vatican came out and said it's a sin to eat food, and thousands of people died of starvation as a result, well that's just Darwinism.

The condom ban makes perfect sense when looking at the whole of Catholic doctrine. Sex is for procreation and use of condoms to inhibit that function defaults the sex to carnal sin.

Now do I agree with this...no, of course not. However, I look at it this way...one of the great things about where I live is that people have a right to believe whatever they wish. I cannot denigrate another group for their beliefs and if Latin America wants to subscribe to this belief and adhere to the condom ban, then that's their deal.

However, it's their idiocy that they cherry pick which parts of the doctrine to adhere to. I mean, if they were having sex for the proper reasons and in the right relationships (according to Catholic doctrine), they would have no need for the condoms anyway. Funny how they keep having the sex but still don't use the condoms. That's their fault, not the catholic church's.

Actually, if you read the works of Augustine, you find that the Church is really misogynist and hatred of sex is a byproduct of hatred of women.

They seem to like Mary ok.

Before everyone thinks I'm anti-Catholic, let me say that I usually respect the Church. It does great work in education and chariety. They just believe crazy things. And usually that's ok, but it doesn't manifest itself in their actions.

Bottom line though, I'd take Catholics over Evangelicals any day.

But think about Mary...she was only pure because she had an immaculate conception...no sex involved. She also had no real authority within the heirarchy.
