FOX: Well, that would be long, long term. I think the processes to go, first step into is trading agreement. And then further on, a new vision, like we are trying to do with NAFTA.

President Bush has denied that any plans for a North American Union exist and has called it a conspiracy theory.

To date there has been no federal investigations into what may actually be attempts to undermine U.S. representative government via the executive branch of government, at least Fox’s comments imply as much.

Fox blamed Hugo Chavez for disrupting the plans for one currency.

NAFTA was passed by President Bill Clinton with Vice President Al Gore as the deciding vote in the Senate.

In each century of its existence the United States has legally expanded by adding new territories and states into the Union following constitutional procedures.

To Date Republican presidential candidates Ron Paul, Duncan Hunter, and Tom Tancredo have opposed a North American Union

A North American Union with a single currency would be a good idea in the long term, as long as it was just a confederacy for trade issues, and the individual countries retained control over their domestic policies. But Vicente Fox is right, it's a long-term plan. It isn't going to happen anytime soon.

On a side note, Fox will be speaking at a college just an hour away from me in two weeks. I've already got my tickets booked and can't wait!

We should not agree to anything that is a threat to our sovereignty such as multinational Unions and currencies.

I have no problem with trade as long as it is done on equal terms,our borders are not wide open,no multinational currency,no multinational board dictating what the US can can't do and it doesn't cost American jobs.

Trade is fine, I love trade and we don't ever want to stop trading (especially with Europe, we have a good trade relationship with them). I think we do need to warrant some caution to make sure the trade agreements our govenrment is engaging in are good and benefit America. As for changing our currency, the government can't do that. They have to print and regulate the value of our dollar; it is a command from We the People whom created this government. It is an essential piece of sovereignty and I don't want our government giving away my sovereignty. If North America wishes to have a united currency, they can use the US Dollar; but we should never give up control of our own currency.
