Senate Condemns "General Betray Us" Ad

What CIA leak was Scooter convicted of.
Scooter was never even a suspect in the leak. He was being interviewed during the investigation, and he was just like every other White House staffer who'd been interviewed up to that point, until he told at least 4 lies regarding how he first learned about her. Surely the "trap" you had in mind didn't involve the idea that Scooter's trial was a waste of money, did it? Cause anyone who lies repeatedly to a Federal Grand Jury deserves exactly what he got.

By contrast, this was a waste of time and money because it's outside the responsibility of Congress to go around condemning the media with their votes.

Yeah, he pussed out, but politically speaking, it's probably a smart move.
As if anyone will remember any of this 30 days from now! I'll tell what everyone will always remember....Bush destroying the US in more ways than any previous President squared AND that he sent thousands of young Americans to their untimely and unjustified deaths, maiming tens of thousand other Americans while doing things that led to death of hundreds of thousands Iraqis.

And you idiots blame Moveon for being unpatriotic! Where is the patriotism in starting a fuc king war over made up bullshit that had nothing to do with preventing America from being attacked and actually led to more terrorists being trained to kill us!

Where you run into your problem is aps contributes millions to democratic candidates and zero to repulicans and some would say (George Soros) they are the base of the democratic party and own it........
Only a completely uninformed person would make such an idiotic claim...and the "Some would say" tactic is straight out of the Fox News Channel retarded playbook...

Where did that come from?

I'm sorry, but why is this even an issue? Who cares what the ad said? What exactly was the point of the vote? There are a bunch of people and groups on the right that I don't agree with, but that doesn't mean that they shouldn't have a right to voice their opinion. Why is the Senate even concerning themselves with such nonsense? Who gives a rat's *** what their view is of it? It wasn't even directed at them. It's a political ad and political ads can be harsh and criticizing. Get used to it.
Now, I want all of you right wingers who are foaming at the mouth about this and actually applauding this vote to see past your typical partisan hack viewpoint and realize that there are people in this country who have differing political opinions and viewpoints. Some of them may completely disgust you. I know Ann Coulter disgusts the hell out of me. However, they have the right to express their opinion regardless of how disgusting you may find them. If you are going to defend freedom of speech rights you have to defend it in both cases, not just when it's politically convenient for you.

The freedom of speech argument doesn't apply because noone stopped the ad.

Edit: Moveon has the right to voice their opinion and the Senate does too. Get used to it.

I know that nobody stopped the ad. I just fail to see the point in the Senate wasting time in voting to condemn a political when they had every right to say what they did. It seems like more of a completely pointless symbolic gesture than anything. I frankly could care less what our Senate thinks about political ads. That's not really what I'm paying my tax dollars for.

I agree that it was merely symbolic, but you could also say that about some of the legislation that they pass, such as hate crime legislation and bans on "assault style" weapons. BTW, the Dems control the Senate. They're not exactly a bunch of right wing partisan hacks.

No, but the Dems are a bunch of spineless wimps who are trying to appear as moderates so that they get more votes in '08 because they think that people want a moderate in office, when people really want someone who stands firmly behind their principals and views.

I dont know about you but I want a moderate in office in 08. I sure as hell dont want some ***** anti-war extreme liberal in office and I dont want some bible thumping, racist extreme conservative in office.

The difference of course is that Moveon.org had to pay to voice their opinion, the senate used OUR MONEY to do it.

Key thing is, if the senate wants to voice their opinion, do it off session on THEIR time, not OURS. I don't like the idea of paying for them to protest do you?

Seriously I have no problem with them all getting together OFF SESSION if that is their wish to denounce the ad, you're right, but they shouldn't do it off the taxpayers dime.

Then send a memo to Pelosi and Reid letting them know that you're sick of them spending so much of their time dealing with **** like this.

Hell, its more important than naming post offices and making pronouncements, which has been going on since the beginning of time.

Nay, ya got backwards. When they are preoccupied with crap like this, they are not doing something to screw up everyone else's life. A lot of people complain about how much vacation, recesses, off-time, etc the Congress takes. IMO, they should be in session one week a year. Anything they couldn't get done in a week probably shouldn't be done. ;)

Already have sent them letters and I also plan on voting Reid out when I get the chance. I'm sick of the senate doing **** like this. What I find odd is all of a sudden the pro-war element seems to think the senate did a bang up job on this one.

True, but it's a waste of time and money and I'd rather just vote everyone out that is supporting **** like this regardless of party.

She can't condemn it..She is getting money from moveon........Hussein Obama missed the vote..........Imagine that.......

Here you go again, NP, showing the silliness in using Obama's middle name. Do you actually believe that anyone buys into the foolish, slanderous innuendo you are portraying, here? The fact that you post this, and fail to post any other political figure's middle name shows your prejudice and your poor attempt at slandering a political figure in a lame attempt to convince the uniformed of your incorrect position. And as always, it is important that I remind you; it is not against DP rules to slander a political figure, just as it is not against DP rules to point out your slander each and every time you do it.

The Dems needed to have condemned the ad outside the Senate. Discussing this and voting on it on the Senate floor is a ridiculous waste of time, IMO. I would hope that Congress has better things to do that to feed into more partisan hackery...though perhaps not.

I know! What infuriates me is that the Republicans in the Senate are happy to condemn MoveOn, but god forbid they allow our soliders equal time at home as they are in Iraq. Do they even care about our soldiers? What the f uck have we sunk to?

A-freaking-MEN!

Oh, but when Ann Coulter spews her hate, it's okay.

Ann Coulter is an idiot. I challenge someone here to read one of her books.
Or read the leaflet-synopsis and then the first paragraph and try to explain how it doesn't already contradict itself.

Yes but Republicans are the ones without balls to condemn their own. This whole anti Moveon thing is another orchestrated distraction to try to keep people from thinking about all the fuc k ups that the GOP have caused in America since Adolph Bush became President in that Dec. 2000 Coup D'etat.

Good news for America is it won't work. So long as the GOP remains the WAR PARTY we are guaranteed of electing more and more Democrats and to create a working majority in the Senate that will actually allow some business to get done.

All you have to do is look at the voting record of the Senate this year to see how the Republicans have successfully blocked any legislation that would have advanced America forward all done within the rules.

Anytime any of you Dems are feeling squirrelly about the GOP just remember that all Hillary has to do is win every state that Kerry won plus Ohio (a shoe-in) to be elected President and just like the Dems cannot stop the GOP from blocking legislation to get to the Senate floor the GOP will be unable to stop the Democrats from moving into the White House on Jan. 20, 2009.

Navy Pride, the SENATE confirmed him.

MOVE ON attacked him.

There is no link between the two. Just because Move On is a liberal organization does not mean that it speaks for all liberals. It speaks for MOVE ON, and MOVE ON only.

Actually, the senate attacked him too after he didn't report what they wanted to hear.
