Gore's message loses bite!

I'm shocked, just shocked    A hypocritical politician. Who'd a thought?

You guys crack me up. :2funny: :2rofll:

You can't expect much from a clown who b!tched up after having the 2000 election stolen out from under him.

Meh...you know I guess I expect no less. But honestly, I mean the stuff is sold legally so other than to poke at the guy what is the big deal. It should be on the endangered species list and completely illegal to sell if it's that bad.

Personally I think Gore is a very smart man. I used to really despise him because of the global warming issue, but the more I have read about him on other issues he's really not all that bad.

Besides, we all deal with hypocrites almost every day of our lives. Is this really that big of a deal?

Gore's message is about animal endangerment? I thought it was about energy consumption, greenhouse gases, carbon offsets, and research of alternate energy sources?

It is rather hypocritical as a general environmentalist though.

I think basically it is because the entire green movement spins around the concept of saving the planets inhabitants. The cry is to prevent species from going extinct or whatever and here he is eating this ill tempered sea bass.

The big deal is he of all people should've known better.

The big deal is he of all people should've known better.

In his defense, I consider myself to be a conservation minded person, but I would not think anything of ordering Chilean Sea Bass unless someone told me it was a threatened species.

Well of course, but come on. The vast majority of "environmentalists" probably are ten times as bad as Gore. After much research I can appreciate the hue and cry that comes from the green movement, it's hard to argue with their concerns. But in reality Al Gore is a mouthpiece, much like the bulk of Hollywood actors. He says one thing but doesn't really care enough to try as hard as he asks other to. It's hypocritical but what else is new?

Nor would I as I didn't know until now.
Still he should've known better because he is neither you nor I. We don't have advisers telling us this or that.

I don't agree. I don't think that he says one thing then states do as I say not as I do. Afterall, he has made many amends to live the way he has "preached" (pinch of salt).
Does his message lose any bite because of this? No not at all.
I'm making my statement simply because of the concern that this is an endangered species.

Gore is not an evil liar bent on double standards, but he IS convinced of his own rhetoric.

His mind is closed in such a way that he will never admit being wrong on any issue. Gore could never stand up the way Bush did the day after congressional elections and say "we hear the voters loud and clear, and we are going to work to do better".

Gore has become a bit of a punching bag - something I do not believe would have happened if he had accepted defeat gracefully.

Ok, I retract everything I've said here in light of some new information.
I should've respected my own judgement on news reports and actually studied just what the frack is Chilean Sea Bass.
From the the website of the state department.

Is Chilean sea bass an endangered species?
No. But large, unreported catches from illegal fishing of this valuable fish has made effective management difficult. In 2000, more than 16,000 tons of Chilean sea bass were legally harvested in the Antarctic management area. Estimates vary, but there may be up to twice that amount taken illegally. Some Chilean sea bass fisheries are managed in a responsible manner, but there are some areas where the species has been and continues to be overfished.

WHo is the daily telegraph? A conservative newspaper indifferent to that of news max here in the US attempting to discredit the green movement.
Here we see this article lying.

Do my eyes deceive me? Are you honestly trying to make the argument that we shouldn't care until it's almost too late?

Replace the word "sea bass" with "global warming". Nice one slick.

I get that but the OP gives the impression that this is going against Gore's message, which it doesn't as his message has been about energy not endangered animals. As I said though it is hypocritical since he categorizes himself an environmentally and generally environmentalists are for saving endangered animals and not serving them as an entree at a wedding.

Your comment "ill tempered sea bass" keeps flashing Austin powers in my head. I wonder if Gore asked for "ill tempered sea bass with freaking laser beams attached to their heads".

Do you honestly think the Gore's have a personal "green" assistant that follows them around and advises them on food choices?

The fact is, I think Gore does care about the environment. Thus, he would not just go out and eat a threatened fish if he knew it was threatened.

So you are arguing that Gore is just an idiot?

No I think that regardless of what one might think of his politics, most any reasonable individual can recognize that he is an intelligent individual.

I am just willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on this. One can be well informed on environmental issues and still not know every threatened species of fish.

Hypocrites suck. **** hypocrites.

But the fish is not endangered.

So there's nothing more to see here, right?

If my mission in life was to go around telling people about the plight of mother nature, the very first thing I'd ask is "what is this animal I'm eating".

Gore being ignorant does not excuse his hypocrisy. If you make a mistake, you apologize for it and move on - something Gore will never do.

Nice play on words. Hardly, that's not at all what I've stated. Go to the state department website and read all about the sea bass for yourself.

The fish is not endangered. Moreover, if the fish was legally caught, then he did nothing wrong.

No: you darn neo cons always try to make excuses for why you are killing mother nature. Why don't you love our planet?

Without regard to this thread's premise - which I have not completely rejected and retracted my statements on - yes I do believe that Gore has assistants, advisers or other sources tell him. Also I believe that he would ask the same questions that I would ask when it comes to rare delicacies.

SouthernDemocrat The fact is said:
I don't disagree one bit either. Which if you note my more recent post after "informing myself" I've retracted the statement I made earlier.
