I don't think a ton of people thought it was some form of planned demolition. but is anyone else sorta put off by the fact that apparently the fireproofing was also providing structural support? Damned engineers, never send an engineer to do a physicists job.

Rember when they said that the Popular Mechanics debunking author was related to Michael Chertoff? Well that's news to him.

Here's the story, as best as I know: I'm not related to Michael Chertoff, at least in any way I can figure out. We might be distant relatives, 15 times removed, but then again, so might you and I. Bottom line is I've never met him, never communicated with him, and nobody I know in my family has ever met or communicated with him.

As for what my mom said: When Chertoff was nominated to be head of homeland security it was the first I'd heard of him, and the same for my family (and, FYI, we'd already sent the 9/11 issue to the press by then!). My dad and I thought there might be some distant relation. When Chris Bollyn called and asked my mom if there was a relation (introducing himself as only "Chris"), she said "they might be distant cousins." Like much in the conspiracy world, this was taken WAY out of context. (Another case in point: Bollyn called me earlier and asked "Were you the senior researcher on the story?" I said, "I guess so," -- that's not a title I have ever used, nor is it at all common in magazine journalism, but I was the research editor at the time, so it kinda made sense.) Nonetheless, I was one of 9 reporters on the story, not counting editors, photo researchers, photo editors, copy editors, layout designers, production managers, fact-checkers, etc., etc., etc. who worked on this story.

Well Purdue is located in Lafayette, IN and Indiana has a history of voting republican in elections. Its not hard for a conspiracy theorist to make a connection between the two.....

And Lafayette was a French General who helped the U.S. win the revolutionary war and a mason which we ALL know is a front group for the illuminati. I think you may be onto something.

I'm not really sure why this would or should provoke a victory dance. I can create a computer simulation to justify any theory regarding how the towers fell, including controlled demolitions put there by Jesus via remote-control from Mars. And no, Purdue wouldn't have to be in on the conspiracy to get that kind of result; if they started out programming trying to find a way to make it work, that would be what they would find.

Now, it may be (without seeing the particulars of the study, it's impossible to know) that they found a way to simulate a collapse brought on only by the impacts + fire. That doesn't mean that shows what actually happened. I would admit it would be the more reasonable explanation provided that the underlying model accurately models the physics and structure involved, and as a prospective result shows all the observed results as they actually occurred.

Until that is actually shown, the importance of this study cannot be estimated.

Moreover, proving that there was no controlled demolition does not also prove there was no inside conspiracy.

I think it's a lot more fvcking insane to believe everything that is fed to you by the government. You're the kind of person ToT that if Bush said Iran has a secret nuke facility underground in America, you'd believe him....
