Well, the Bible did state the that he wasn't physically attractive.

Sorry I was referring to the Jesus's teachings in relation to the stories in the books I mentioned. In both of those books Jesus is a greatly inspired, loving man and a great leader and motivational speaker, not the son of god or a divine being. Divine or not, he still comes off as the same Jesus who's inspirational teachings should be spread.

The Divinity of Jesus is the cornerstone of the Christian faith. Without it all they have is another prophet, like every other religion.

Rome was in a state of religious chaos during Constantine's rule. He needed to unite his people under one religion to bring order. The fast rising Christian religion was perfect to bring everyone together but to also have them start fresh and forget about the tainted history of the many Pagan religions. At the initial two religious councils Jesus's divinity was created to compete with the God's of the Pagan religions. All the gospels, and there were hundreds, were brought together and edited or removed based on decisions made by the priests on how they though the religion should be moving forward.

The ignorant masses needed to follow something greater then themselves, not a mere man. So Jesus's divinity was created.

The creation of his divinity is of course arguable, which is the whole point of all this.

I think that the fundies such as those in Jesus camp would have a hard time, but the true christians won't have much issue, or will they?

Having grown up in the church myself, I would say that even if it were scientifically proven true, most Christians would have enough faith to ignore such claims that contradict their beliefs. It certainly won't bring the downfall of the church any time soon.

However, of the many happenings and circumstances that define Christianity, the resurrection of Christ may be the most important of all. If Jesus died (during crucifiction or any other time) then technically, the orthodox religion of Christianity doesn't exist. Jesus' resurrection after death is the hinge on which his divinity swings.

No. Even though it should.

1. The majority of Christians are Christians because they have been raised into this religion and because it's socially acceptable.

2. Governments need a catalyst of why the people should be obedient and subservient to Govt. and the Church business takes care of that.

3. People don't want to be told they are wrong and what they have been doing isn't Biblical. As one major example: Jesus wasn't born on Xmas, nor anything in the Bible about celebrating birthday parties but you will hear that it's tradition and it doesn't matter any way because it's good for the secular material expenditure of gifts--of course your not going to hear it presented like that--but that's what people physically do and what you do is what makes you--not a label. Americans love labels.

4. People believe in many frauds of all shapes and forms. Are they seeking to shape themselves up? Even when a massive information (www) piece is at their fingertips? No. Like DP posters they need to defend a particular position they have cornered themselves into.

If this is true it should change the face of mainstream Judeo Christianity via the American Public though they never were real Christians by action anyway and don't want to be told what to believe--even if true. No. Nothing will happen.
 
Anyone see the documentary on Sunday? I think it was very well made and is very compelling.

Christians follow the law of God not governement. Yes we obey the laws of the land if you will but I'm not sure how you can bring government into this especially since there is the whole seperation od Church and State thing.

What you are describing are Jehovah's Witness. They don't celebrate the things you speak of. Not all Christians celebrate the things you describe.
I have no problem admitting when I am wrong but I need more proof then this. As for the secular materialism you speak of many Christians only give 3 gifts at Christmas one representing the three gifts given by the wise men.

If you have proof that Jesus was a fraud more then just speculation I'm all eyes.
