Caine said:True and not true. True for if you arrest someone out on the streets or what not, but not true if the person turns themself in to the jail cause they know they are wanted.
Also, handcuffing in the front is unsafe. But if the person you are arresting is being put back in handcuffs after a trip to the hospital (cause he got his *** beat down by the cops), and he had to strip down and is wearing hospital clothes (cause his other clothes are soaked in urine) and now has been discharged and is being taken to the jail, then being handcuffed up front could be fine.![]()
True, but even a seemingly non-violent suspect can get violent. I saw a show not too long ago where a guy (forget his name) was being taken to court in a suit, somehow he had gotten mixed in with prisoners that were being transported. He had something hidden that made it possible to unlock the cuffs. He was cuffed in the front. He also got a gun off of the cop in the elevator and proceeded to kill a couple cops and himself after he made it to the street.
True, but as a cop, Ive handcuffed people for many reasons other than just being under arrest. Like today for example, four 16 year old robbery suspects were handcuffed and taken downtown to the main law enforcement center to be interrogated, they were not "under arrest" or being charged with a crime at that time.
If they were suspects to me being handcuffed in the back is the only way to go. Suspects are suspects. I should have said suspects, as well.
