"He who does not think himself worth saving from poverty and ignorance by his own efforts, will hardly be thought worth the efforts of anybody else." -- Frederick Douglass, Self-Made Men (1872)
I already said that I wouldn't suggest reading very much into these special elections, and I just take them at face value. Nate Silver suggests that they do have some predictive power, albeit as one of many data points.

Are you coming to bed?
I can't. This is important.

Just quote from the campaign statements of the winner where they promised to give them all they want and show us this was the key to victory. The election is less than 12 hours old and that should be easy for you to find with all the publicity this garnered.
There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.... John Rogers
Will Americans commit mass political suicide in 2012. That's the basic choice... Entrenching the USSA or not. If it is so, our demise will accelerate in the hands of the Socialist wonder.
2010 illustrated the general sentiment of the nation. But hey, perhaps we have become a nation of morons like the Europeans claim. Only time will tell.
My money is on Obama losing and America winning.
I AM DEPLORABLE.
NEVER CRIMINAL HILLARY (S-NY)
Paul Ryans biggest mistake and the one that will haunt his plan is that he screams and bellows how broke we are and how we cant afford ANYTHING for ANYONE...then his plan includes big tax breaks for the richest americans and corporations. Seniors see it for what it is..a change in the tax code that benefits ONLY THE RICHEST and gives them billions in tax cuts.
Both sides need to fix it, and both sides share the blame for not fixing it.
Politically, the republican are making some bad decisions right now and they will pay for it in 2012.
Remember what they ran on in 2008. Jobs...Jobs....Jobs....
Every since they took the house back, they just spent time on cutting government programs and giving the rich tax cuts. Can anyone name one bill that they put up to put America back to work?
