    GOP Govs' popularity plummets

Another bad sign for the GOP in 2012:

GOP Govs' Popularity Plummets - Yahoo! News

The cycle of over-reach and backlash is in over-drive these days—with significant implications for the 2012 presidential election. In pivotal swing-states where voters narrowly elected Republican governors in 2010—like Florida and Ohio (with 47 electoral votes between them)—evidence of buyer's remorse is piling up fast...

"It's taken Gov. Scott less than 100 days to begin a free fall in popularity."

Fifty-five percent of Florida voters disapprove of Scott's job in office, while only 32 percent approve, according to a mid-April PPP poll. The Suffolk University poll found that 41 percent of respondents said the new gov's first months in office had been "negative and damaging"

There is no roadmap to the whitehouse for the GOP if they don't carry Florida. This could present major problems to what is already starting to look like a serious uphill battle.

After Obama's speech about the ME, I would expect FL to swing in favour of the GOP in 2012. Though Nov 2012 is a lifetime in politics.

Ha,ha, it looks like a lot of Floridians have just realized their nose is gone - and they wish they had it back! You know, they voted Republican because they were going to teach the Dems a lesson - well, now they are finding out they are the ones that learned the most from their own lesson!

Its still a long way to the 2012 election...However, with the GOP struggling in Florida and Ohio...it has to raise some serious concerns for the GOP. They cannot afford to lose either of them and from the looks of it at this point, they'll be lucky if they don't.

You know, Florida has been conservative (gov, pres vote, etc) for a long time. Obama got 50%

What did Obama say in his speech that conservatives are making so much ado about nothing?

The Reps/cons upset over what he said need to realize that Israel is not the United States' responsibility. They are our ally, we help them when they need help, we don't baby sit them and become their "big bully brother" with every one of their problems. What is most surprising, most of the Reps/cons that coddle Israel are Christians, I guess they've forgotten that God promised to take care of Israel. Whatever we do or don't do don't amount to a hill of beans if God is on their side.
    Just MHO.

huh, that's odd. Tea Party Favorite Marco Rubio seems to be doing pretty well with only a 27.3% unfavorable rating; that's about half of Scotts'

maybe the governor isn't being conservative enough?

Most congressmen/women are popular with their constituency...even when they are very unhappy with congress in general. Not sure that Rubio's popularity would translate to the rest of the state though. That was 2008 - Scott was elected 2010.

Despite being a political novice, Scott ran a relatively strong campaign and benefited from the Republican tide sweeping across the country, and particularly across Florida. Sen.-elect Marco Rubio – a young conservative tea party favorite who won the GOP primary – got nearly 50 percent of the vote in a three-way race.

traditionally Republicans go into elections with a negative of several points and still win - the only two years that I am aware of where they went in with an actual majority (1994 and 2010) were blowouts. And I like how they used one outlier to baaarely squeeze out a "lead" for Democrats of two-tenths-of-a-percent (when polls are usually plus or minus three full points).... right after the "we killed UBL bump"

but hey, whatever floats your boat. we'll see either way in 2012.
