GOP Govs' popularity plummets

The PPP poll that was sited only polled 500 people.

I wouldn’t hang my hat on any poll of a state the size of Florida where only 500 were polled.

Just my humble opinion.

Do you understand how proper polling is done? When Gallup polls the entire US, typical sample size is ~3k

here's some numbers for ya, more empirical than polls

from today's usatoday:

Job creation limps along after recession - USATODAY.com

how long to make back those lost 7 mil, at this rate?

seeya at the polls, progressives

Its funny that you blame Obama for everything. Do you understand how economics works?

:) Do you understand what happens when you pull massive amounts of capital out of productive sectors of the economy and put it into unproductive sectors?

Stimulus was done though tax hikes, it was done through tax cuts and borrowing. Money wasn't take out of productive capital, it was injected into places that should have been productive, but instead is being horded by companies.

yup. now.

where did all that money that they borrowed come from?

:lamo like Robot Bees?

yup. now.

where did all that money that they borrowed come from?

A combination of printing, buying treasury bonds, and borrowing from other countries i.e. china

Companies were basically given money and they are hording capital.

actually all the borrowing was done through selling treasury bonds. now. who bought treasury bonds?

Companies were basically given money and they are hording capital.

yes you keep suggesting this. the corporations are sitting in their big corporate buildings being all corporationy.

but i agree that the government has no business in giving money to businesses in hopes of stimulating the economy. the government sucks at picking winners and losers.

Whatever is happening now will have zero impact on the election.

By the time the election is upon us, the issues of THAT time will be the only thing that matters.

People have too short a memory for anything else.

Normally I would say your dead on...I dont think its going to be that simple this time...these govs have created such animosity...more than ive ever seen and they did it to themselves by trying to be tough guys and bullies and villifying people

Look people are not going to forget these govs got elected and the first thing all of them did was give out huge tax cuts to the wealthy and corporations and they said WERE BROKE we have to screw all the public workers, we cant afford you...
Rick Scott in florida went even more off the deep end...giving utilities and property insurers huge increases...
This time its different, I think anyway

the debt ceiling, will, i think, play a part in setting the general feel of the election. Democrats have a short and decreasing time span to shuck off the image that they are the party of ever-increasing government spending. Republicans need to use the time now to prepare to defend the Ryan Budget, which will also be a major part of the 2012 election.

Not all people have short memories so I'll only somewhat agree. The election is in November of 2012 and issues then will carry more weight(the economy)

These conservative politicians barely won in lib states. First thing they had to do was be the adults in the room and say the party’s over kids, time to clean up the mess. Many of the children in the room that voted for adult supervision are now upset about it. They knew the house was being trashed and wanted daddy to come home before it was burned down completely but now that he has they are whining and throwing a temper tantrum like all spoiled kids do. Hopefully by election time these little brats will realize the party had to end and Dad’s discipline was needed. Maybe they will realize they had to grow up. It will be interesting to see if they do.

I agree with that CP...I also believe the Teaparty Republicans are on thin ice and have created the perception to americans that they are looking out for the rich and powerful at the expense of the rest of us....why do you think the poll numbers are dropping.

selective amnesia?

Since Walker has not come up for reelection as have none of the State legislators, you appear to be jumping the gun and making broad statements based on ......... based on nothing really.

All anyone can point to is a highly suspicious Supreme Court race where it looks like a dishonest or imcompetent clerk tried to save the bacon of the GOP. And even if those results hold up, months before all the crap hit the fan, the Republican was thirty points ahead.

The tide has indeed turned.

It will be the economy. If the economy doesn't start getting better soon, no one but the true believers will believe the Republican rhetoric.

As per rasmussen two days ago..christies ratings are lower, in a matchup with obama, obama now wins with NJ voters..

Which of course means nothing to True Believers of the Right and they will dismiss that out of hand. The only opinion polls they pay attention to are the ones which appear to validate their own belief system.

Both sides do that haymarket, no one has selectively choosing what to believe cornered.

The truth is that teaparty govs popularity is dropping and whats considered quite swiftly in the political world. From the beginning I believed that what they all did out of the gate was going to backfire on them....Payback their supporters and donors with a big tax cut and then go after the little guy to pay for it...after the intial shock people are starting to say WHOA.

Ill say this again America does not like the far left and they dont like the far right any better.

That is true about selectivity. Perhaps it is part of human nature although the hyper-partisan divide which has only been greatly increased because of ideological differences seems to make it worse than ever.

Here in Michigan, Snyder was elected and won by 19 points. Just four months after being sworn in he has lost over 40% of his support and would lose if the election were held today. It is like being on a roller coaster and he just went downhill very very fast.

really..... i seem to recall something about a judicial election......

OH. there it is :)

really? gosh, given that everyone involved in that action - democrat and republican agree that there was no dishonesty involved, nor voter fraud, and given that the numbers involved generally match voter preference and participation for the area for the last several election cycles, do you have any evidence of your claim? or are you just trying to find a way to justify the rejection of your "wave" by Wisconsin voters?

The tide has indeed turned.

well this is certainly going to be the election cycle where the Public Unions spend every dime they have trying to make that so. so I suppose we shall see :)

huh, what do you think the implication for them is if they shoot everything they have and still lose? :) now that's a thought to put a smile on a mans' face.

So... polls showing poorly for Democrats mean nothing (or so liberals and Democrats tell us), but polls showing a Republican doing poorly are harbingers of doom for the GOP.

Don't mean much for either, as neither are rightly popular for good reason. :coffeepap

Hear hear...they both suck today they are worse than they ever were. We have the far left and the far right sending the country down the tube and putting the working class on their knees

You may have forgotten or simply do not know that a good portion of the population in South Florida are children of the holocaust. Or they are grandchildren that have heard their grandparents talk of the brother ans sisters they lost in Europe or were lucky enough to find their way to Israel. These people have all their lives voted democrat. There will be a large hill to climb for those people to vote for Obama, much less give him financial support.

In an attempt to preemt those who will question the loyalty of Jews who care about Israel, this should be viewed no different than the Cuban-Americans that care alot about our relations with Cuba, Irish-Americans who voted on our handling of Ireland etc.

I think they misunderstood what he said, or listened to the Reps try to twist what was actually said. Anyway, if Israel's Prime Minister has nothing but praise for Obama, the Jews in Florida don't have anything to gripe about.

Bibi’s speeches to AIPAC, Congress — no anger at Obama
by ron kampeas, jta

In two successive speeches this week — one to AIPAC and another to a joint meeting of Congress — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had nothing but praise for President Barack Obama.

The friendly notes not only reversed Netanyahu’s tenor from a few days earlier, but they were even more remarkable in light of how Republicans — and even some Democrats — were rushing to emphasize their differences with Obama on Israel policy.
