Palin says White House invite to rapper Common lacks ‘decency’ - Yahoo! News

In a Fox News appearance last night, Sarah Palin reiterated the complaints she had aired on Facebook and Twitter about the White House decision to host the rapper Common at a poetry event this week. The former Alaska governor said that Common's appearance was an affront to "class and decency."

"You know, the White House's judgment on inviting someone who would glorify cop killing during Police Memorial Week, of all times, you know, the judgment--it's just so lacking of class and decency and all that's good about America with an invite like this," the former Alaska governor said on Fox's "On the Record." "And you know, it's just so easy to assume that they're just inviting someone like me or somebody else to ask, 'Come on, Barack Obama, who are you palling around with now?' "

What a stupid little country hick this bitch is. Did she even read the actual "cop killing" line she talks about? It has nothing to do with cop killing to begin with. I'm glad Palin chose this rapper to trash talk. He's quite possibly one of the most clean cut, pro-peace rappers there are and she's saying he's indecent? I guess she'd prefer cats like Johny Cash and Eazy-E.

I shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die...

I got a State trooper fired, because I'm a vindictive bitch...

She doesn't read, remember.

I thought if you were looking for class and decency, you wouldn't really want to get it from Palin.

Rappers are the same as KKK. No difference and it seems that obamas wife probably likes hos too. EVIL

The Far-Right can barely handle 1 Black Man at the White House... 2... HOLY $%#@

“Seeing a fiend being hung

With that happening, why they messing with Saddam?

Burn a Bush cos’ for peace he no push no button

Killing over oil and grease

no weapons of destruction

How can we follow a leader when this a corrupt one

The government’s a g-unit and they might buck young black people

Black people in the urban area one

I hold up a peace sign, but I carry a gun.

Peace, ya’ll.”

Oh and i guess you got a problem with the NJ Police too, since they're just as against this as Palin is.

NJ Cops "Outraged" Over WH Rapper Invite | NBC New York

Oh, so where's the condemnation now eh?
Shakur, formerly known as Joanne Chesimard, was convicted for the 1973 slaying of Trooper Werner Foerster on the New Jersey Turnpike. She escaped prison in 1979, and is living in asylum in Cuba.

"The young people who read this stuff, hear this stuff, are getting a very dangerous and deadly message," David Jones, president of the State Troopers Fraternal Association union, said on Tuesday.

After the union made the case on Tuesday, the New Jersey State Police itself issued a statement on the controversy on Wednesday.

"We cannot dictate who is invited to the White House, but we will always view Joanne Chesimard as a fugitive who killed one of our own," Major Gerald Lewis, spokesman for the state police said in a statement. "We will continue our pursuit of her until she is brought to justice."

So what part is supposed to be so offensive there MrV? Which part lacked "decency"?

That you ask the question says you don't get it. Burning Bush might be a decent thing in the circles you travel, most civilized folks frown upon such. And i see you completely ignore the NJ Police Department's complaints, I guess killing Cops is decent in your eyes too.

You know he was not actually advocating burning the president, right?

I know, it was just allegory, it's okay.

And you still ignore the complaints of the NJ Police Department.

I think you are having trouble understanding what is being said in the poem... Because you're only reading the part that supports your argument.

This whole faux controversy ginned up by Fox and RW radio is all about feeding into racism and fear.

Huh uh. And the NJ Police Officers are part of that Right Wing Fear Mongering too.

Hey, the NJ police are entitled to their opinion. (no doubt given to them by conservative activists trying to stir up controversy) I'm mean how many of them sit around watching Def Poetry Jam, discussing, analyzing the subtext. Would the NJ police has even been aware of this poem or some of the lines if some reporter hadn't called them looking for a story.

Note to budding reporters: You don't 'create' news, you 'report' it.

But taking one poem (out of context) out of a total body of work, from an artist know for positive and conscious lyrics, is the epitome of race-baiting.

Why don't you try reading the entire poem, and not just the lines taken out of context by your masters at Fox?

a bumper sticker I saw seems appropriate to respond to your hysterical nonsense

"I AM NOT A RACIST, I HATE HIS WHITE HALF MORE"

If Obama was a pro gun pro taxpayer, pro military, pro limited government advocate It would be people like you who hated him or voted against him

Now now TD, you know the narrative that the lefties are supposed to push is that anyone that dislikes Obama, or his friends is just a racist unable to admit to himself. It has NOTHING to do with Obama's actions, ideas, speeches, friends behavior or the like. Cause if it WERE based on that, then that might mean Obama's supporters have been in error, and we all know good progressives are never wrong. They tell us so everyday. So it OBVIOUSLY is all about skin color.

If you're consciously trying to prove you're not a racist, chance are you probably are. I bet that guy has another bumper sticker saying "I'M NOT RACIST! I'VE HAD 4 BLACK PEOPLE IN MY HOUSE THIS YEAR!"

Still waiting for the right that has a problem with this to tell me how they felt about Ronald Reagan inviting rapper Eazy E to the White House. So far in other two threads only one person would even answer. I wonder why:roll::2razz:

Palin needs to get her own trash house in order before speaking on decency and/or class:doh

It was Bush 41, not Reagan. It was a lunch benefitting GOP Senatorial candidates, from what I can glean from Googling. E was a party contributor apparently and was invited to the benefit by Bob Dole. I don't know if he spoke, or if his lyrics were praised as poetry.

Do the Right-Wing Thing | EW.com

I also know nothing of his recordings. He apparently sang about killing cops?

Yes. I'd say bad form. Maybe a nice thank you for your donation letter should have been the limit.

EDIT: Re-reading the link, it was hoped that E would assist with fundraising after publicly praising Bush 41.

Yawn!

I'll be waiting for the next faux outrage... Hopefully it's as rediculous as this one is.

People who come out with offensive and trashy songs should not be invited to the White House, I don't care whether the "supposedly" poet is black or white and the president should of used common sense, after all he is no longer a regular citizen, he is the president.
Obama has always hung around with that kind of people ie: Jones, Rev, Wright, Ayers (to name a few) and it just so happens that Common is Rev. Wright's closest friend. What a coincidence.
Show me who your friends are and I'll show you who you are.
I hope that now you know the difference.

So every major musical talent in western culture... Great.

It's complete ignorance to focus on one controversial song/poem/painting/book and ignore the entire body of work of an artist.

Obama has always hung around with that kind of people ie: Jones, Rev, Wright, Ayers (to name a few talking point names the far-right uses to bash Obama)

The red text is my opinion of what is going on in your post. You've got a FEW (like you said) goto names, that now have become part of the far-right mentality.

If you don't like the names that the conservatives use to bash Obama it's just too bad because all those names are evidence and not imaginative evidence and facts.

Remind Obama that he is not living in his house, he lives in the PEOPLE'S House ( White House ) and every citizen is involved in everything that is going on in THEIR House ( White House ) and they are entitled to their opinion.

I don't consider that type of work or art work from an artist. Anybody can use fowl language and mix it up with ordinary words that only people with no class like and understand. I don't have anything against it because they are entitled to it and you can be damn sure that that type of "supposedly" artwork, which I consider nothing but TRASH is never played and will never be played in my home.

This post would have more power if "trash" was more than a purely subjective label to music that you have clearly not taken the time to examine beyond the surface. Unfortunately, it isn't so keep on staying in the past while the rest of country makes some progress.

I feel deeply sorry for your children, if you have any.
