Gasoline Taxes Per Gallon Nearly 7 Times Exxon Mobiles

And it's proven to be so successful when and where? I'm not opposed to alternative energy, as nobody should be, however green policies implemented into todays markets have not been nearly as splenful as advertised, whether one likes to admit or not.

typo? know not splenful....splain, please

going green is bad? going clean is bad? Only in Texas.....

No, going green is good as long as we aren't destroyed in the process. I think we can walk and chew gum at the same time.
Drill here drill now while we are working on alternatives. Also get serious about converting vehicles to natural gas. We have over a hundred years worth. I think we can perfect a battery by then.

we have lots of oil, but much of it is hard oil, hard to get, hard to refine, thus expensive....

Ahhh don't stereotype Texans because of barb.

Utahbill never has anything good to say about the great lone star state. I don't think I have anything to do with his opinion. :)

you said in a previous post you don't like his green agenda....
fess up, you don't know what you want.

I don't like Obama's agenda. We will eventually get to cleaner, greener energy. We don't have to be turned into a third world country to get there.
We have plenty of oil and natural gas if we were allowed to get to it.

voila.....that's the word. It's french, of course..
France has lots of nuclear power and they reprocess/reuse spent fuel....we could actually learn from the french...

Japan kind of screwed us up there.

Wait! What? John, remember "So Be It"?

That was in reference to public sector jobs. You know, the ones we have because our government has grown way too large. Public workers out number the private sector workers now. That's disgusting in a free country.

How? Because their 30 year old reactors that should have been upgraded were hit with one of those once in a lifetime type earthquakes?

I was not aware that taxes on gasoline served merely as a road construction fund. However, it makes since that our administration wants higher gas prices (along side from green energy....yank) ...so that they can simply cycle that money to a public union building roads, who in turn would turn around and give it straight back to the government officials....thought outload

Anyway, it seems you think they're to low, what do propose then? Raise gas prices, and/or taxes?

It freakin' SHOULD pay for it! grrrrrrrr............

no, it isn't just you....
I lived in TX from age 1.5 to 18.5, so I have SOME knowledge of the place and the people.
And, all of my siblings are in East Texas except one in Louisiana...same difference...
add in the humidity, and the bugs, and who in their right mind lives there?:2razz:

Because it scared everybody and our lawmakers put those plans on the back burner for now.

Glad it's not just me:lamo

I absolutely love Texas. I'm a transplant from OH.
Bugs? Not anymore than OH. Fewer houseflies actually.
heat and humidity beats snow and cold.
Most of all I like the attitudes, friendliness, and pride of the state most Texans have.

If a man's from Texas, he'll tell you. If he's not, why embarrass him by asking?

Have you ever lived in dry heat? AZ, UT, ID, NV, NM, CO ?

Did it make up for what you're paying for gas and food, now and in the near future?

Sure was better off with it than without it! I am also aware that the recession and peak oil was not created under Obama's administration. :sun

Hope you don't have any smokers in your family either. He raised that tax as soon as he got to the WH. BTW, most smokers make less than $250K.

It has been found that the higher the cost of cigerettes, the more people quit. I think that is a good thing. I have not heard of protest by the middle class of an increase in cigerette taxes have you? Is there a Tobbaco Leaf Party I have missed somewhere along the way?

Peak oil? What the hec is that? We are finding new oil and technoligies to get to it like we never could before. If we are at peak oil it's only because we aren't tapping into our own resources. We also have over a hundred years of natural gas. Also,
Why are liberals constantly comparing us to other countries? We aren't other countries, we're different and I like it that way, don't you?

Do a little reading for goodness sake. We haven't produced as much oil as we consume in 40 years, and despite our "new" finds and "new" drilling techniques, we continue to produce a smaller and smaller percentage than the oil we consume. We are importing natural gas now too for the first time. We either come up with alternatives fast or we are in for a very rough and economically challenged future. That is why the US military issued its warning about peak oil in March of last year, and it is why they have joined with the Department of Energy, as the largest user of oil in the world, to partner in the development and use of alternative energy.

Well before you addressed the fact that gasoline taxes went toward road construction, it never made since to me. I never understood why Obama was making such a piss poor effort to do anything to reduce gasoline prices, other than it was his way of promoting his alternative energy policies. However, to top that off, since the taxes go toward road construction this just adds on, aka the tax revenue goes to his beloved public unions, am I correct? And I;m sure you know what happens with public union money from there.

That might make some kind of sense if the private companies hired to build roads and perform maintenance had public unions. :sun

why would tax revenue go to Unions? that 's what union dues are for...

I am still mad about Bush, both of them....when I vote for someone as the less stupid of 2 candidates, I expect that someone to REMAIN less stupid than the other guy....

It is one thing to willingly pay big bucks for cigarettes, but to buy a carton at a gas station/convenience store? BIG BUCKS just to have a smoke.....
OTOH, men in the know like dating women who smoke....(cough, baby, cough)....;)

I have heard smokers cry for years that they are being discriminated against and forced to quit. If you think its right to do just because they haven't got their voices heard, I have nothing to say to you.

Its always fun to discriminate against people because of what they do!

You say you support equality, but you don't mean it.
