Tavis Smiley: 2012 Will Be "The Most Racist" Election Ever

But it has been played for 2 years now.

I'm glad we agree Republicans have been playing the racist card then. I'm not sure what else you can call it when plenty of Republicans have said something to the effect of "They don't have any criticism of me except unfounded racist accusations".

No Obama and democrats have been playing the race card

putting political hackery aside for a minute ( if you can do that) didn't anyone ever teach you two wrongs don't make a right.

And when did the right wing racist zealots discover that racism was a wrong?

Wrong it is democrats that are the racist and always use the race card

So when the leader of the Tea Party Express wrote the letter making fun of black people, that was the democrats being racist?

I don't know I don't know what you are talking about since the liberal media and the democrats have told so many lies about the tea Party. I did not know there was a leader of the tea Party.

Well then you don't even take the time to educate yourself on what's going on in the larger political world, so I see no reason your opinion should have any weight.

No you show no facts and your word means nothing to me

Mark Williams:

Dear Mr. Lincoln

We Coloreds have taken a vote and decided that we don’t cotton to that whole emancipation thing. Freedom means having to work for real, think for ourselves, and take consequences along with the rewards. That is just far too much to ask of us Colored People and we demand that it stop!

In fact we held a big meeting and took a vote in Kansas City this week. We voted to condemn a political revival of that old abolitionist spirit called the ‘tea party movement’.

The tea party position to “end the bailouts” for example is just silly. Bailouts are just big money welfare and isn’t that what we want all Coloreds to strive for? What kind of racist would want to end big money welfare? What they need to do is start handing the bail outs directly to us coloreds! Of course, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is the only responsible party that should be granted the right to disperse the funds.

And the ridiculous idea of “reduce[ing] the size and intrusiveness of government.” What kind of massa would ever not want to control my life? As Coloreds we must have somebody care for us otherwise we would be on our own, have to think for ourselves and make decisions!

The racist tea parties also demand that the government “stop the out of control spending.” Again, they directly target coloreds. That means we Coloreds would have to compete for jobs like everybody else and that is just not right.

Perhaps the most racist point of all in the tea parties is their demand that government “stop raising our taxes.” That is outrageous! How will we coloreds ever get a wide screen TV in every room if non-coloreds get to keep what they earn? Totally racist! The tea party expects coloreds to be productive members of society?

Mr. Lincoln, you were the greatest racist ever. We had a great gig. Three squares, room and board, all our decisions made by the massa in the house. Please repeal the 13th and 14th Amendments and let us get back to where we belong.

Sincerely

Precious Ben Jealous, Tom’s Nephew NAACP Head Colored Person

Now you could have known that from, ya know, paying attention before you opened your mouth, but that's evidently too hard, and I have to hold your wee little hand through all this

this from marktalk.com

In early 2009 OCDB created the “Tea Party Express” (TPX). Williams traveled with the TPX 3-bus caravan on 4 national tours (through April 2010) as chairman and principal speaker. In that capacity he whipped up arena size crowds with rousing speeches and fiery introductions of celebrity guest speakers such as former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-MN).
Williams is no stranger to controversy and has been at the center of debates over such issues as the Ground Zero Mosque and allegations of racism in the tea party.

I suspect is that the tea party and racist apologists will attempt to say that Mark Williams is not the leader of the tea party movement and thus dismiss his racist letter. in doing this they ignore the very proclamation for Williams about his tea party organizing efforts and his role in that same movement.

What we have seen from the right is an attempt to inoculate themselves from whacko teaparty pronouncements by proclaiming that they do not have a spokesperson or a leader and anyone speaking for them can be dismissed as a lone individual. Its a less than clever ruse which fools nobodyu except those who want to be fooled having drunk amply gallons of the right wing kool-aid.

What makes him the leader? Was he voted the leader by tea party members?

Look it is true that liberal TV pundits do play the race card too much, but don't sit here and act like conservative TV pundits haven't done the same. Look at fox news for example. Glen Beck (who is consider a hero by the majority of tea parties) said that Obama had a deep rooted hatred for white people. Many conservatives said that white people voted for Barack Obama because of "white guilt" and every black on the planet voted for Obama because he is black. Hell there were many of you that said this on the DP.There were times I heard GOP leaders refer to Obama as "Kenyan". Hmmm why is that???

Both sides pander to their audience to get ratings. A strong part of the liberal base are minorities and a strong part of the conservative base are old white southerners. Are you going to sit here with a straight face and say that these large portion of these older white southerners are not looking at Obama being black? Listen to fox, when have they ever said anything positive about minorities? They want because their target audience will get upset. The same with stations like MSNBC. They will not dare say anything negative about minorities.

Lets see you logic here
1- at the start of your reply you want to deny that Williams was a leader - which is exactly what you were predicted to do by me.
2- you then link to an article which you hope redeems the tea party and the first thing it does is call Williams a leader of the tea party.

So which way is it?

haymarket,

Had a republican been mentored by a racist like Wright, you think he'd have made it into the state senate, let alone the US Senate, then president? He wouldn't be elected dog catcher.

Ask Bill and Hillary Clinton about the race card. Ask the Cambridge cop about the race card. Ask Biden about 7-11, or being clean and articulate, or Reid about his comments. Then there are morons like Bob Schieffer and Tavis Smiley running racist accusations for the WH.

Had an R pulled any of this it'd be career over.

If there is race baiting, we know where it would be coming from... from the bottom of the Liberal deck.

Idiocy, thinking someone is racist is not racism, otherwise you would be racist for thinking the pastor of the church is racist.

Are you really so naive that you think that cat likes white people? Or, Latinos? Or, Jews?

Its that racism of low expectations that the left practices as applied to blacks. Its been going on for years. when I was in college it was popular for liberals on campus to whine about College investments in South Africa. South AFrican athletes-white, brown, black were banned from the Olympics. State sponsored athletes from countries like Uganda that featured genocidal dictators were not. South Africa was condemned for only letting whites have full rights while most African run nations south of the Sahara were far more racist in terms of tribal oppression. When I asked Liberals why south Africa and its Apartheid was worse than say Francois Macias or Idi Amin or later Robert Mugabe, the subtle comments were essentially that american liberals were upset that "whites" were acting like thugs-it was to be expected of asswipes like Amin.

Its that same thing with Obama. the left almost expects him to be tight with racist asswipes like Wright. its the same leftwing mentality that almost expects high rates of violent street crime among the urban blacks.

I don't know. I never knew there was a leader. So I looked and found the left here only wants to tell half the story

Well he is right technically, since it after all is the first president that isn't caucasian, tough call Tavis.

As a truck driver I hear a lot of Black truck drivers that are unhappy with Obama and will not vote for him.

Obama better realize he has not pleased anybody in this country except for the hard core partisan liberal democrats
