NLRB Issues Complaint Over Boeing’s Move to S.C.

A complaint issued today by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) against the Boeing Co. is a victory for all American workers—particularly aerospace workers in both Puget Sound and South Carolina, officials with the Machinists (IAM) said.

NLRB Acting General Counsel Lafe Solomon issued the complaint, which alleges that Boeing’s decision in 2009 to locate a Dreamliner 787 final assembly line in North Charleston, S.C., represented illegal retaliation against IAM members who work for the company. The NLRB is seeking a court order requiring Boeing to operate the second 787 line, including supply lines, with union workers in the Puget Sound

The government shouldn't be able to tell companies where they do business at. This is neither a victory for America nor American workers. This is the Obama admin pushing political favors to the groups that will help him get reelected.
    From the ashes.

This is actually scarey. I hope this complaint gets struck down. Looks like Charleston, SC can go piss up a rope for their jobs. When the Federal government can start telling companies where they have to do business...which is exactly what's happening here...we don't live in a free United States of America anymore. I'm surprised this hasn't gotten tons of press. This is very very sad.

It is scary. They are filing the complaint NOW even though the plant has been under construction for 17 months and is near completion. This is the very reason so many Us companies have moved their operations overseas.

If the move was a 'stick it up your ass' to the union... waiting until it is nearly completed before filing a complaint is the union's 'right back at ya'.

Of course it is. My Uncle just moved from Seattle, the bruhaha up there over the Unions and Boeing is most interesting. Boeing moved the Dreamliner cause the Unions demand so much $$ that it's not worth doing business there. I know a lot folks here in SA really hope Boeing decides to put forth big $$ at Kelly USA and make that a plant. Would really be good all around.
Climate, changes. It takes a particularly uneducated population to buy into the idea that it's their fault climate is changing and further political solutions can fix it.

I think NLRB can jump into a lake over this one. I fully support unionization, but I also fully support a company's decision to locate a factory where they want, for whatever reason. In this case, I feel the company's rights trump union/assembly rights.

President Obama has packed the NLRB with union employees and given up any pretense of impartiality.

So Boeing is not allowed to create jobs in South Carolina.

Oh, no, they can create jobs there....they just can't use it for what they'd intended according to the NLRB. My opinion that's why they waited 'til the plant was practically built to file their suit. More jobs all-round. This is wrong on soooo many levels.
