Obama expanded and extended the patriot act, you know.

This is about invading privacy. Can't you see it?

Of course i can. Modern Democracy is built AROUND preventing gov invading our privacy and abusing our rights and for a damn good reason.

We kind of already do this by logging into a lot of websites via Facebook. All that data is stored, and likely linked with our browsing histories that Google keeps. Most, if not all, of our internet activity is already logged (remember IP addresses?). I don't really see this as anything besides using that information to chase suspected terrorists and criminals as opposed to just tailoring which advertisements to show you. Granted, I don't want ANYONE keeping tabs on what I do, private companies or the government, but I don't see this as a big step past what we already have. The information is already out there.

IP addresses cant identify us personally unless Facebook/Google etc asks your ISP for the details. Any info they DO have about you is subject to government scrutiny. If the government has the ability to trace our Internet footprints and is given open ended access to our information, that sets a dangerous precedent and you can never be sure if your data is really being used for the right purposes.

This is just another example of law abiding citizens loosing there privacy because of a handful of idiots.
