Obama administration unveils online ID system

Oh I wasnt being sarcastic.

Definetely a good idea is right
Probably implemented fairly is probably. As in more likely than not.

This is the dumbest idea you can imagine that only a person completely ignorant of how information gets stolen would think is wise.

The gubermint wouldnt know how information is stolen, they're completely blind and this is just an example of their ineptitude.

^sarcasm.

Unless you're an identity thief I think I can tell you to get over it.

So you are saying this makes it harder and not easier? Right...

Convenience? Really, Locke? It’s embarrassing how dumb these people think we are. It’s also embarrassing how dumb we are. But that doesn’t make it right.

That is not something to be proud of...

Troll

Do you have an explosive link detailing the colossal failure of the proposed system?

How is one number for the entire Internet more secure? Is this supposed to be a hard question?

Why is a Social Security number NOT secure? Could it be that its based on a false premise that a single number that is connected to everything you are is a good idea? That putting all your eggs in a flimsy holey basket is perhaps the dumbest bull**** ever thought up. Government has this strange idea that a number is equal to a castle, and hackers are only bugs. When in reality the number is a bug and the hackers are more like a fly swatter. That is ofcourse ignoring that a castle is a single point and won't stand for long to huge rocks being thrown at it, their castle is built in a earthquake prone area and they have no defenders in the castle. Resulting in just a wall in the middle of a valley completely surrounded by higher ground. That has shown to be nothing than just that when the same kind of idea has been done before. Its a crappy idea made by controlling idiots that actually have no interest in protecting you, but tracking you and controlling the Internet. Its so goddamn obvious that its retarded and not about what they say. You need to wake up.

Btw, if you knew anything you would know its about complexity, and simplifying it is just dumb.

"Ai prupoze we giuves one passwurdz for everythingz foer 3vrywun"

Im certain that they overlooked this aspect and that the law is written as such. My why don't you become a consultant.

Invalid, see you in the happy political education camp in 2050.

Mr Locke said it would mean people would no longer have to remember a variety of different passwords to do business and social networking online.

So we have two numbers TEN NUMBERS! That wouldn't change anything would it?

Invalid, see you in the happy political education camp in 2050.

So a number they have access too is what? Rainbows and unicorns! I sure hope there is a gigerbread house somewhere in this jungle of naiveness.

To me, that's probably one of the reasons we have government...to protect us from epic-scale fraud. I don't know how it would work, but I don't see much wrong with it.

I'm pretty sick of seeing MyPayPal.com, YourPayPal.com, PayPalAuthorization.com, PayPalSignIn.com, and all the rest of the fraudish emails in my junk mailbox. Same with CitigroupHelp.com, MyCitigroup. Your Citigroup, yada yada yada. That kind of fraud is probably funding some of the most heinous crimes on the planet, including terrorism.

Go git 'em!!

Most of that crap originated from Europe so Obama's Eye in the Net will only protect you from attacks that originate within the US.

Don't be naive this is GOING to be abused even if it does serve you to a degree.

You know i've never actually read a single political view of yours that wasn't stupid or promoted some sort of Christian/Racial supremacy. This is why your moronic views are never taken seriously, haven't been since '45.

How? Can you say exactly or do you have some wider unproven theory that because it is the government it will be abused.

Government always uses "security" as a pretext to invade our privacy. GW Bush did it, every government before him did it and so will every government after him. Even if Obama doesn't somebody will.

Obama expanded and extended the patriot act, you know.

This is about invading privacy. Can't you see it?

Of course i can. Modern Democracy is built AROUND preventing gov invading our privacy and abusing our rights and for a damn good reason.

We kind of already do this by logging into a lot of websites via Facebook. All that data is stored, and likely linked with our browsing histories that Google keeps. Most, if not all, of our internet activity is already logged (remember IP addresses?). I don't really see this as anything besides using that information to chase suspected terrorists and criminals as opposed to just tailoring which advertisements to show you. Granted, I don't want ANYONE keeping tabs on what I do, private companies or the government, but I don't see this as a big step past what we already have. The information is already out there.

IP addresses cant identify us personally unless Facebook/Google etc asks your ISP for the details. Any info they DO have about you is subject to government scrutiny. If the government has the ability to trace our Internet footprints and is given open ended access to our information, that sets a dangerous precedent and you can never be sure if your data is really being used for the right purposes.

This is just another example of law abiding citizens loosing there privacy because of a handful of idiots.
