My confidence in the garden variety school teacher erodes more and more, everyday.

COLLINSVILLE, Ill. (AP) - A southwestern Illinois special-education teacher has been ousted after allegedly ordering students to remove their underwear to determine which child soiled his pants.
The Belleville News-Democrat reports that Collinsville’s school board voted Monday not to renew the contract of the unidentified Webster Elementary School teacher.

Unreal, I have to agree with you

Beyond the pale. "Not renewing" the teacher's contract isn't enough. That teacher should be instantly fired.

And barred from teaching ever again.

The teacher has no right to do something like this. If she wanted to figure out who shat their pants, its called a nose. The teacher should be fired and have her teaching license striped permanently, this could border on molestation.

Instead of labelling all teachers as worthless I think this is just a snapshot of our society. It seems we can find people of this accord in all employments. Being a teacher and involving a child it becomes newsworthy.

I don't know what our "society" has became or how that process works. But in the last few days there have been threads of teachers calling young students pigs and cops pepper spraying kids.

I agree 100%. However, our education system has been organized in such a way that not only are sub-standard teachers like this not culled out, but they can't be fired, because of tenure laws.

Where was the Principal and school nurse?

We don't know that stupid things like this are more prevalent or if we just hear about them more.
