Piotr Duda addressed a letter to the American trade union AFSCME supporting their struggle against the recent attempts to reduce workers’ and trade unions’ rights and cut down wages in the public sector in the State of Wisconsin by Governor Scott Walker.

In case you don't know who Solidarity is, they are the organization that emerged victorious, after the Soviet style government of Poland attempted to crush their union. Given that Walker's attempt to crush the unions in Wisconsin reeks of Soviet style ruthlessness and tactics, this is a most appropriate endorsement of workers by a union that fought against a repressive government that attempted to force its will on the people too.

And what if that is what the majority of the people of Wisconsin want? What will you advocate? Letting the people run their government, or advocating that the minority has the right to stop them?

Will you hum the same tune if the law holds up?

Organized crime often has supporters who think they can get something and give up nothing. Unions are a very, very lucrative branch of organized crime. Extortion, fraud, bribery, assault, intimidation, theft, and other crimes are their stock in trade.

Gettin' purdy sick of those saying that Walker's trying to crush the unions...seeing as they will still have more bargaining rights than every Federal employee in the U.S. of A.

From his infamous telephone call:

Walker: But in the end, this is, and I even pointed it out last night ‘cause I’m trying to keep out as many of the private unions as possible. I said, this is about the budget. This is about public sector unions. Hell, even FDR got is. There’s no place for the kind of, I mean, essentially you’re having taxpayers’ money being used to pay to lobby for spending more of taxpayers’ money. It’s absolutely ridiculous.

There's no place for public sector unions - i.e. ultimate goal=get rid of them.

Murphy (Fake Koch): [Laughs] Well, I tell you what, Scott: Once you crush these bastards I’ll fly you out to Cali (California) and really show you a good time.

Walker: All right, that would be outstanding. Thanks for all the support in helping us move the cause forward, and we appreciate it, and we’re doing it the just and right thing for the right reasons and it’s all about getting our freedoms back.
Transcript of prank call to Walker - JSOnline

It's about crushing/get rid of public sector unions.

From his infamous telephone call:

No smoking gun here. My statement stands. The liar is the only one who said anything about crushing unions. Big difference between crushing unions and reining them in. Gads.

Walker wants public unions gone - he thinks there's "no place for them". He isn't just about "reigning them in". It's pretty clear.

Well....fortunate for everyone we live in a republic then. What he wants may make no difference.

Great, so we agree - he wants public unions gone.

<------- The irony is not lost on me; had this one for a while now :)

PS - The Lenin Shipyard (Gdansk) at the time was government owned! According to the logic of our right leaning friends on here Solidarity were thugs and gangsters.

I refer you to my previous post...funny as hell.

I pointed this facet out many weeks ago.

The parallels between the Wisconsin GOP and Soviet/Nazi anti-union measures are unmistakable.

Absolutely absurd. Here's what Hitler did:

Reviewing a transcript of the opening statement of the chief U.S. counsel in the Nuremberg Trials, we found the Nazis:

  • Seized all funds of labor unions and arrested union leaders, sending them to concentration camps.
  • Ordered that no workers organizations, except ones created by Hitler, would exist.
  • Replaced collective bargaining with Hitler-appointed "trustees" to regulate the conditions of all labor contracts.
  • So, Hitler abolished all unions and collective bargaining by decree, not with legislation. And he used force to liquidate the unions that did exist.

For those of you who have the audacity to compare the democratic process being used in Wisconsin and other states to Adolph Hitler and the Nazi Party, I have two words for you: You're wrong.

http://www.politifact.com/wisconsin...sin-state-sen-lena-taylor-d-milwaukee-says-h/

Absolute tripe.

So. Tasha. Please list these unmistakable similarities. I'll wait. Don't buy into the hype, Tasha. You're much more intelligent than that.

My name is Tashah. Not Tasha. Solidarity views it exactly as I do... the Wisconsin GOP is traveling down a very slippery slope.

Please explain this so-called slippery slope. Because I call that slippery slope democracy in action. Certainly not Nazi Germany. Competely ridiculous.

I daresay, real democracy is about to transpire. Recalls.

That's a fair statement. Comparing this situation to Nazi Germany is not.

The over-the-top **** ought to stop. Union sympathizers are pickin' up what their union leaders are puttin' down. It's incendiary and shows a desperation that makes all the rest of us think Walker's doing exactly the right thing. It will be interesting to see what happens. This is probably one of the most interesting clashes of democracy we've seen in this country in decades.

Will you hum the same tune if the law holds up?

He wouldn't have a choice but to do so, and none of the Republicans who voted for the measure would be getting recalled if that was the case... They made their beds, they went against the majority of the people and now they have to answer to the people. Dan is just pointing it out.

Government officials can be involved in organized crime too... but who is keeping track? Do you have proof that the Wisconsin labor unions are crime ridden? Probably not, you're just spouting off a bunch of anti union bull****

I think I do remember you pointing it out, but you made reference to Russia...

I wouldn't call it democracy in action until we see the recall and the results. They didn't run on doing what they did, and it's viewed as widely unpopular in state.

Much like with the Jews, Nazi Germany attacked unions incrementally. One step at a time.

The Wisconsin GOP has taken a step.

Fortunately, the people will decide on the merits or demerits of their action.

Please tell me exactly what is not democracy in action. "They" don't have to explicitly state every piece of legislation they hope to enact. Where in the Constitution does it say that? As to whether or not it is widely unpopular? The democratic process will prove that out.

The only subversion of democracy done in Wisconsin was when a possee of Democrats donned running shoes and ran like little girls into Illinois. Unless you have other concrete examples??
