By all means, continue to hide behind a veil of faux intellectualism. It's what you do best. As a matter of fact, most of the time it's all you do.

So by Muslims making threats they are being more American? Are you American?

Well perhaps that is the ideal there but that's not necessarily the case in other countries.

The point is, most of the American population expects immigrants to adopt certain cultural norms and in fact, they are forced to (i.e. participating in democracy to get things done) - which is why after a few generations people assimilate.
In four or fiive generations we'll all be dead. And who will have assimilated with whom?

In American politics, people make legal, financial and other threats all of the time to get what they want. That's why so many people hate politics. So yes it sounds pretty standard to me.

I don't know how to address this unrelated argument.

My goodness, some bolded text. You make me feel so special.

I can only hope to be able to live up to your standards some day, so I, too, can show proper deference and respect to these systems that mutilate the genitalia of little girls so they can never enjoy sex, kill them for "honor", parade them about as if farm animals, and use them as if they were nothing more thn brood mares. What is wrong with me that I cannot see the obvious superiority of such a way of life!

But that seems to contradict what you said about Muslims earlier and i pointed that out,

I don't know how to address this unrelated argument.
You don't recall saying "The point is, most of the American population expects immigrants to adopt certain cultural norms and in fact, they are forced to (i.e. participating in democracy to get things done) - which is why after a few generations people assimilate".

No, we won't be dead. I don't know how to address this unrelated argument.

Four or five generations is 120-150 years.

And will the Western democracies assimilate with Islam?

What I hope is that someday you stop being so shortsighted that you're able to tell the difference between showing a modicum of respect for someone you need to work with and honoring the things that they do which disgust you.

Failing that, I hope that someday you will at least figure out the difference between being disgusted with people who do that kind of thing and being disgusted with people who look like the people who do that kind of thing.

Our Catholic priest really let the women in the congregation have it one Sunday for not wearing a head covering.

He let me and my friend, Joey, have once for laughing at the old ladies in front of us.

I do notice people like Hilary Clinton wearing a head scarf when she is in that part of the world It just means you have respect.

"Look like" has never been the issue.

"Believe like" has always been the issue.
