Judge Prosser has just received the kiss of death:

Thats not too surprising. I'm not sure that the likely Prosser loss will mean too much in terms of how WI feels though. Unions and democrats are much more engaged due to actually having something to lose. Republicans and independents not so much. I have no doubt people outside of unions (who just view this as another SC election which typically has turnout of 20% or so) aren't voting. Union members have (probably) sucessfully convinced their members that this is the most important election ever.

Unions/dems are highly energized and are looking at this as a proxy vote on Walker. Independents and republicans aren't nearly as engaged.

The last polling in the race that I saw, anyway, showed a 50/50 split with Prosser slightly ahead. However, I wouldn't be surprised to see a much bigger margin for kloppenberg simply due to the fact that democrats are much more engaged then ind and republicans.

Only those that truly pay attention to politics or those that were told how important it is by the unions will vote. This will obviously result in much higher dem/union turnout.

Not to mention that the other big races in the state are all in democrat strongholds (madison and Milwaukee) which will further drive turnout in those areas.

I would go so far as to state that with odds so firmly against it, if Prosser actually pulsl it out, unions and dems are done in WI for years to come.

So, which part of what I typed was wrong?

I walked by the polling station near my place in Milwaukee about an hour ago. No line and no more cars than were there this morning at 10 am. My friends on Facebook are reporting the same at other Milwaukee polling stations. A friend in Dane County (Madison et al.) said he stood in a line for an hour before voting. Madison is impressive, Milwaukee is disappointing. That strikes me as odd being there is a Milwaukee County Executive election today also.

Polls close in about 20 minutes (8 pm), the numbers will start coming in.

I can't say where you are, but i've been hearing that many polling stations in Dane County were running out of ballots.
