On a Senate Call, a Glimpse of Marching Orders

Given that I've recently heard Republicans criticize other Republicans, leading some to believe there's a GOP "civil war", the GOP must just not be that good at it.

I guess the democrats aren't either since some are calling for Obama to be impeached. No, they are all idiots who use talking points because none of them are smart enough to defend their own views concisely on their own. It's a sad reality.

And as someone else pointed out, they need talking points for our awesome 24-hour news channels that we have created. When you have multiple news channels spewing out nonsense 24 hours a day, it apparently becomes a necessity for everyone to say the same thing over and over again.

Let's be careful about demonizing talking points: there's a fair number of members here who just post talking points all day long.

A few? If you can show me one conservative on this board who was constantly talking about overpaid teachers and public unions last year, I'll show you one surprised face. It would take a talking point for anyone to blame teachers for being overpaid.

Oops, this is the equivalent of not realizing the mic is on.

Schumer just gave out the marching orders.

If we were moronic partisan hacks, absolutely.
It takes an even more moronic partisan hack to start the name calling simply because I dared to question the Democratic party. ;)

Yea, that's the reason

Maybe he's talking about him and the little mouse in his pocket.

I think he's talking about how you are so partisan that you can use the example of republicans splitting on current issues as a sign that they don't use talking points while somehow ignoring the democrats same split (if not worse split). You have to be blind not to see that.

It's all politics baby. It's all spin and one-sidedness. Nobody is interested in the full picture, on what is actually reality. Today, listening to NPR I found myself disgusted to listen to Harry Reid and the Congressional Dem leadership accusing Republicans of trying to destroy Social Security, and found myself agreeing with Eric Cantor. That's how sad our politics have become.
They have been trying to destroy Social Security since it's inseption in 1935, there's nothing new here.

Well...obviously. If Schumer was a Republican, I seriously doubt you'd gone there. It's not that I mind, really, I just thought it ironic and incredibly funny. Still, if you want a flame war, I won't shy away.

I'm not ignoring anything. It's super funny that, in any other thread, if I were to say that Dems were as fractured or more fractured than the GOP, most of the left leaning posters here would take issue with that, but in this thread it's actually some sort of defense.

I posted this in another thread, thought I would post it here. It's just a history lesson.

I thought this might be interesting to some:

Newt Gingritch said:
As you know, one of the key points in the GOPAC tapes is that "language matters." In the video "We Are a Majority," Langauage is listed as akey mechanism of control used by a majority party, along with Agenda, Rules, Attitude and Learning. As the tapes have been used in training sessions across the country and mailed to candidates, we have heard a plaintive plea: "I wish I could speak like Newt."...

Apply these to the opponent, their record, proposals and their party.

decay... failure (fail)... collapse(ing)... deeper... crisis... urgent(cy)... destructive... destroy... sick... pathetic... lie... liberal... they/them... unionized bureaucracy... "compassion" is not enough... betray... consequences... limit(s)... shallow... traitors... sensationalists...

endanger... coercion... hypocrisy... radical... threaten... devour... waste... corruption... incompetent... permissive attitudes... destructive... impose... self-serving... greed... ideological... insecure... anti-(issue): flag, family, child, jobs... pessimistic... excuses... intolerant...

stagnation... welfare... corrupt... selfish... insensitive... status quo... mandate(s)... taxes... spend(ing)... shame... disgrace... punish (poor...)... bizarre... cynicism... cheat... steal... abuse of power... machine... bosses... obsolete... criminal rights... red tape... patronage

Use the list below to help define your campaign and your vision of public service. These words can help give extra power to your message. In addition, these words help develop the positive side of the contrast you should create with your opponent, giving your community something to vote for!

share... change... opportunity... legacy... challenge... control... truth... moral... courage... reform... prosperity... crusade... movement... children... family... debate... compete... active(ly)... we/us/our... candid(ly)... humane... pristine... provide...

liberty... commitment... principle(d)... unique... duty... precious... premise... care(ing)... tough... listen... learn... help... lead... vision... success... empower(ment)... citizen... activist... mobilize... conflict... light... dream... freedom...

peace... rights... pioneer... proud/pride... building... preserve... pro-(issue): flag, children, environment... reform... workfare... eliminate good-time in prison... strength... choice/choose... fair... protect... confident... incentive... hard work... initiative... common sense... passionate

Just thought a little history might be interesting.

Ok, but now we know that any future bashing of Boehner or the T party as being extreme is nothing but a talking point dictated by Schumer.

Can we dismiss EVERYTHING that's established to be a "talking point"? Can we? Huh, huh? Can we, can we?

Pretty please?

I'm sure everyone here is aware that this is my particular hobby horse. All this Cognitive Linguistic crap being rammed into everyone's brain all the damn time.

But here we are again, liberal this conservative that.

Discussion of this topic is ridiculously taboo. Makes me wonder why.

Frankly, I'm appalled by the Dems recent adoption of this strategy.

Now they have decided they need their own propaganda firehose.

Disgusting.

Chuck Schumer Busted On Phone

So here we see the disingenuous nature of demo's today. Aren't we in this country tired of these games yet?

Ok my apologies if I didn't see it....I felt it deserved a thread all its own to highlight demo's dishonest actions today.

Please see my post earlier in the thread I merged yours into. Summary: Newt Gingrich had a memo where he explained exactly how to do things like this back in the 90's. It's called framing the debate, and is not dishonest exactly, it's just using the language.

Honest Politicians are rare but the do exist I know a few and they don't use talking points because they don't have to because they can think for themselves.

Schumer is a low life worthless scum bag.

I do think this behavior crosses the line far too frequently. But I feel education is the solution. If everyone is aware how it works it won't work well enough to use any longer.
