The anger of one conservative Wisconsin Supreme Court justice boiled over last year when he called a fellow justice a "bitch" and threatened to "destroy" her, according to a published report.

You know, I have received quite a few PMs from people asking me why I changed my lean from Conservative to Independent. The answer is in the link. Conservatism has become a completely different animal than it was when I was growing up.

So why did I change my political lean from Conservative to Independent? Because I do not want to be associated with the kind of lunacy that I am now seeing. In retrospect, I believe that it was an excellent decision on my part. No, I don't like Obama, but I will be the first to say that he loves America too. I just don't like his policies. And no, I don't believe that calling a State Supreme Court Chief Justice a bitch, and threatening to destroy her, is anything that Conservatives would have done back in my day. So, to today's Republican party, I say "Adios". I'll keep Goldwater and Buckley. You can have Beck and Palin. As for Justice Prosser? A session on a psychiatrist's couch wouldn't hurt. Just sayin'.

Article is here.

I have eased my conservative leanings lately but not for any of the reasons you cited. I have a loathing for the far left and I have just as much dislike for the far right.
I have deep reservations about this new teaparty thing. I supported the teaparty wholeheartedly in the beginning and I attended 3 rallies and at those rallies I saw all working class americans that didnt like what they were seeing and the debt that obama was creating. Since then this teaparty thing has done nothing but give tax breaks to the rich and corporations and make it up on the backs of the working class and that is turning me off.
They havent mentioned curtailing illegal immigration that costs us far more than public worker pensions and benefits and not a whisper from them about stopping corporate subsidies and Foriegn aid to the 154 countries we give billions upon billions to...All I hear from the teaparty is we have to cut social security and medicare and public workers pensions, benefits and pay has to be reduced we cant afford it....Im not buying their rhetoric and thats why I went from staunch conservative to slightly conservative and I may soon be an independent...and ive been a republican since the day I turned 21 the voting age then...

You know, being Conservative AND Independent is NOT mutually exclusive... I consider myself conservative (though I choose to define it for myself and as such, differs from the interpretation of some "Conservatives" on this board) but I am also not beholden to any particular political party or individual... especially some of the loonies in the Tea Party movement. That being said, not everyone in the Tea Party movement is a loony, far from it. But sadly, some of their 'leaders' are certifiable nutcases...

We had a pretty good contingent of Ron Paul supporters during the primaries; I’m sure that plenty of them are active tea party supporters now. That shows me that there was plenty of nose pinching on both sides during the election.

I don't now and never will define or confuse my views as a Conservative with anyone or any party. Being a Conservative does not automatically make me a Republican. I have been a Conservative Independent my whole life, and I vote for the person with the best ideas, fiscal policies and have a moral compass that works Seldom is that a Democrat but it has happened.

I didn't like much of What Bush did and I spent a lot of Air time complaining about him and his policies, and one of the bigger items I am opposed as much as ever is many parts of the Patriot Acts 1 & 2.

As to Obama I can't for a minute think that he loves America as I do when he was Raised by Communists, sought out Radicals in College (In his words) and then spent 20 years being indoctrinated into Black Liberation Theology in Rev Wright's Church. I spent some time reading up on Black Liberation Theology and it is Marxist.

Obama has embraced Radicals both Socialists and Communists and instituted policies and spending that seems to be exactly the wrong things to aid in the recovery of our economy.

Everyone knows that when you keep doing the same thing over and over and expect a different result you are nuts, and Obama's spending spree and wanting to raise taxes is well know as a recipe for economic disaster.
