I can't find anywhere that she attacked someone for not paying property tax on a plane. I found that she ran an ad attacking someone for how much he used a state owned airplane. Not the same thing at all and not even sure why you brought it up in this discussion.

You're acting like she tried to evade these taxes. It's entirely possible and she really should be audited by the IRS but the report here says that they never received a bill for the property tax owed on the plane from the state where it was stored and if that's true it could very easily be an oversight. It seems that as soon as she found out that she owed the money she wrote a check. I understand why people want to make this political but it seems like an oversight that has been corrected with no harm done to anybody.

I'm not excussing McCaskill at all. I even said so in my post. If she or ANY member of Congress for that matter didn't pay their taxes they should be held liable just as the IRS and the legal system would hold any ordinary citizen accountable. All I'm saying is it's interesting that whenever the GOP comes into power or want to advance their righteous persona upon the American conscienceness they always "look for dirt on the other guys" instead of seeking to find such injustices committed by all regardless of party affiliation.

Does that clarify things better for those who purposely misinterpreted my words?

    Let's see...

I called out Congressman Ragel for his tax evasion last year.

I thought it was stupid of Congresswoman Pelosi to make the statement concerning the health care bill, "You have to read it to know what's in it." If her comment were, in fact, scolding someone for not reading the bill at that point but said person was making wild accusations concerning same, I would have supported her point of view. But her remark was clearly off the mark considering she very likely didn't know what the bill entailed in its entirety either.

Can't think of any other issues off the top of my head I disagreed with over Democrats other than those two which stick out in my mind at present, but if I think of others I'll get back to you.

    Fair enough?

It "seems to me" that she wrote a check after the shtf in the media and it got out! "no harm done to anybody"? How about she violated the law, made partial restitution and isn't being prosecuted for violating the law. That "seems to me" like special treatment.

That's why I opined that I'd expect to see a petition of recall for her. She both antagonized the right in her home state by her behavior and embarassed the left there. She even tried making the plane the scapegoat.

“This is the third time in less than two weeks that she’s had to change her story about her private plane, and she only admitted any of her wrongdoing once she got caught by the media,” Rob Jesmer, executive director of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, said in a statement.

Fair enough I guess, although the Pelosi thing involved deceit and stupidity not similar to Rangel.

Point being, in this case especially, the offender ...party aside was a loudmouth who lectured everyone and now has turned out to be a big hypocrite. Everyone realizes it so noone should be surprised that those who disagree with her politically would jump all over her case, because she damned well deserves it.

Find me a single person that has been prosecuted for finding out about taxes that they owed and as soon as they found out they paid them. You find me one person that that has happenned to and you have a great point. Til then you're bitching for no reason and really no idea of what you're even mad about besides the letter after her name.

Been paying taxes for over 30 years and never missed a beat. There's no excuse for this gal to miss it.

the story isn't limited to her deliquent tax bill; it seems she's also been charging the taxpayers expenses for her flying around the country going to political events. that's what she accused the governor of doing.

You're acting like she tried to evade these taxes.
yup. it's John Kerry parking his boat out of state and Rangel forgetting to pay taxes on his overseas bungalows all over again. does anyone think that anyone else would get a pass for this?

It seems that as soon as she found out that she owed the money she wrote a check.
given her past problems with "the damn plane", you'll have to excuse me if i suspect that as soon as everyone found out she wrote a check.

it is political. it is also important; we should not accept hypocrisy and what boils down to attempted theft on part of our political leadership. expect it, perhaps, but not accept it.

Why should I buy into that distraction? I'm..., make that we're...talking about politicians, also known as 'public servants'. Public servants operate within the realm of the 'public trust' and we have a right, even an obligation, to hold them to a higher standard (regardless of political party). If you didn't see political partisanship around every corner you'd come to realize that is PRECISELY why our system fails to operate properly. We the people have not demanded our politicians set up law to specifically define what acting against the public trust means and establish a severe penalty for such transgressions. So we collectively pay the price for such neglect.

Btw, as an aside, you may want to try and verify your suggestion that Claire McCaskill falls into this group of transgressors:
...as soon as they found out they paid them.
...what you find may surprise you. You naively assumed that she found out about this at the same time the press did? Puuulease!
