It's not the gov'ts job to create jobs. That's the job of the free market economy. The right took over the house based on people wanting the gov't to stop trying to create jobs. Quit spending a trillion dollars and doing nothing. Just stop. The CEO's job ain't to clean the bathrooms and the gov'ts job ain't to create jobs.

First, NPR is not supported by the gov't. They receive approximately 2% from the Center for Public Broadcasting, who get some support from gov't. Get your facts straight.

Second, again, there is no first amendment issue involved in Juan Williams' firing. Juan Williams signed a contract. According to NPR, he violated his contract. Employers have the right to enforce contracts. Nothing to do with the Constitution. You're really grasping at straws. Either that or you're entirely ignorant of what constitutes a first amendment violation.

So what's the big deal? They'll be just fine without the funds.
The median income for NPR listeners is $87,000. They also have several donors who donate 1 million at a time. Listeners can just fork over more.

We elected them to get out of the way so the free market could work. That's the same as saying STOP spending to create jobs. It doesn't work.

Where are the jobs, Mr. Boehner?
If there were an far right wing radio station that was publicy funded, of cause your'd want that defunded.

No, they didn't. Please show how they did.

You clearly have no idea how mission statements and contracts in the media world work. If you did you would have realized that what you're saying is that private media companies can violate a person's civil rights(which they can't) but the government can't. Being funded in part by the government does not mean they can't fire you because of your opinions. NPR has a mission statement which Juan Williams clearly violated. Furthermore he violated the terms of his contract. The legal implications of that contract clearly are not in violation of civil rights as I'm sure somebody would have already pointed it out. So what you have is nothing more than a false argument.

You might have a point except for this.
What Won't Get You Fired From NPR - Hit & Run : Reason Magazine
She wasn't fired but then she didn't say those things on Fox. NPR didn't like Williams being a Fox contributer. It's that simple. George Soros hates Fox and he had just given NPR 1.8 million that very week.

    It's not even about that!

NPR is to liberal media what talk radio is to Conservatives. Thus, for the GOP it's about removing or severely limiting the range of a Liberal information source that's funded in-part by the federal government. It's the counter attack to what the GOP claims the FEC is trying to do in implementing the Fairness Doctrine...mussle Conservative talk radio.

That's what this along with union busting is all about....silencing and/or keeping the liberal base as silent or as uninformed as possible so that their voice can their propaganda the loudest and most often.

That's what this is really all about. Frankly, I'm surprised no one else has figured this out yet.
