It'll be interesting to see if the courts side with the majority or uphold the law for recalling new governors.

    speaking of recalls

Voters swept Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Alvarez out of office by a stunning margin Tuesday, capping a dramatic collapse for a politician who was given increased authority by voters four years ago to clean up much-maligned county government but was ushered out in the largest recall of a local politician in U.S. history.

The spectacular fall from power comes after two years of missteps, ranging from granting top staffers big pay hikes to construction of a publicly funded stadium for the Florida Marlins to implementation of a property-tax rate increase that outraged an electorate struggling through an ugly recession.

Alvarez tried to fend off ouster by twice filing suit to block a recall vote. After the lawsuits went nowhere, he defended his record in speeches, radio and television appearances and paid advertisements, arguing that he made the tough calls to preserve vital services for residents.

But voters responded by handing the mayor a humiliating defeat: Nearly nine of every 10 voted to remove Alvarez from office.

County Commissioner Natacha Seijas was similarly recalled Tuesday in a resounding defeat. For 18 years she represented a district that includes Miami Lakes and Hialeah and was widely regarded as the most powerful politician on the commission.

I think that's probably true. The television ads that the republicans will put out will obviously paint the opponent as having to raise taxes. The debates should also draw a stark contrast between one side that will have to vote to raise taxes and another side that chose spending cuts to meet the deficit.

Unions will be very organized, though, so who know what the ultimate outcome will be.

I have a better idea. How about starting your own thread with that post, instead of trolling this one? Thanx in advance. BTW, I do agree with you on what you posted.

They'll probably run on the platform, "Vote us back in, we'll tell you what we're gonna do up front and not hide it before we get elected."

They'll probably also run on the platform, "Vote us back in, don't you remember that 8 years of Republicans caused this mess. It's not going to take us just 2 years to undo their incompetence."

So how does this recall thing work anyways? I get that they have to gather signatures from people that are registered voters...but does it have to be from people that voted for the senators? Or just anyone that voted period?

You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

I'm laughing at this notion that all of Wisconsin is up in arms over what Walker and the Republicans have done.

A high percentage of that state has never been more proud of a Wisconsin governor.

Unions are by and large incredibly corrupt, and their very existence is hanging in the balance in Wisconsin. I expect them to leave no bullets in the chamber. Losing this will substantially weaken them across the country.

And these polls are flat bogus. You can't just poll in inner city Madison and get a real picture.

Walker is a true hero in because he has the balls to act on what much of the country has been begging for. It will serve him well; his political career is just beginning.

Democrats were in charge the past eight years in Wisconsin. Governor Walker is trying to fix it.
