Bachmann Muddles American History, Puts Battles Of Lexington & Concord In New Hampshi

Re: Bachmann Muddles American History, Puts Battles Of Lexington & Concord In New Ham

This is just a totally trivial issue for anyone other than the terminally hyperpartisan.

She's a congresswoman in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Whatever happen to the best and the brightest?? Whatever happened to exceptional people making it to positions of power and leading by example? Isn't that the ideal we should strive for? People like her need to be driven out.

That's the problem with certain parts of America -- since W., they keep lowering their standards. Dimwits like her get on TV, say crazy stuff and the far-right base gets all excited...

Re: Bachmann Muddles American History, Puts Battles Of Lexington & Concord In New Ham

Why do republicans support every republican no matter how big of a fool that person is? If they had any brains they would cut her lose and start supporting those that have a chance to beat Obama.

All, none and none.

Re: Bachmann Muddles American History, Puts Battles Of Lexington & Concord In New Ham

Concord, the Capital City of New Hampshire

At that point in time, New Hampshire wasn't a political entity, and Massachussetts extended over Concord.

So (again) Bachman is proven to be historically accurate, and her detractors laughably desperate to cling to any semantic that can bring her down a peg.

really. it's a capital city. you would have thought that would have picked at someone's memory.

Where on earth did you come up with this poppycock? I thought you were the party of personal responsibility, willing to stand up and say you were wrong? Wait, you are a conservative, where did I come up with that poppycock?

You obviously shared the same textbook with Michelle Bachmann. Spend a few more dollars and buy a geography book written by someone that actually knows the topic.

Yep, that explains it...

Look, I'm from Minnesota myself. All those new england states are just a jumble of stuff that turns blue every 4 years.

Well... except the one that Bachmann was speaking in... that one actually turns red from time to time... as it did in the most recent mid-term elections and almost certainly will again in the next Presidential election unless the GOP really screws up in its choice of candidates (not out of the realm of possibility)

Re: Bachmann Muddles American History, Puts Battles Of Lexington & Concord In New Ham

I'm from Texas, where we could fit all those little puzzle piece states together and make a panhandle.

LOL

New England ruins a child's fun of putting together an United States puzzle. Ten minutes after taking it out of the box, no one can find Rhode Island in the carpet.

Yet, four of those states were among the original 13 and played such a vital role in the country we all love...

This isn't so bad. Her assertion that immigrants to America were treated the same regardless of skin color is laughable. Tell that to the African slaves that were forcibly brought.

If Bachmann thinks she has a chance at getting elected, she's more delusional than anybody thought. She barely wins re-election in a district that is drawn specifically for a Republican to win. (Anybody with a basic knowledge of the geography of Minnesota knows this.)

I hope she does run. It will make the Republican primary debate highly entertaining (and slightly scary).

I've always wondered how someone that clearly unqualified and out of her league gets elected to U.S. Congress.

it's because we have the best government money can buy

The people who scout for GOP candidates actually met with picked Bachmann and Palin. Unbelievable.

I have to believe it's because they were electable and easily manipulated and controlled once in office. They moved W. up the ranks and got him in the WH, but found out he wanted to be 'the decider' in the 2nd term. Now Bachmann is a loose cannon in the house.

I'd just like to bring up something real quick here.

Now I want to say first off, I don't care. if I knew every detail of my countries history my brain would explode. There are plenty of legitimate complains against Bachmann, this is far from one of them.

But I'd please like everyone to remember what they did when Obama got a quote given to the wrong person on the oval office rug :coffeepap

Which isn't a legitimate complaint -- missing a detail of where a battle took place or denying that there was ever any racism in the US?

The first one, I'd probably agree with. The second one is hardly a tiny detail, it's kind of one of those big, overarching themes.

Who said anything about him. Bachmann said in a speech that all people who came to America were treated the same "regardless of skin color." Hello? Ever hear of slavery? Jim Crow? Not exactly tiny details.

The Glenn Beck history course is more like a Reader's Digest abbreviated version... far-right style.

What grade did you get in the class?

The important question is why did you have to repeat the class so many times?

Here's a good response...

Yes, actually, I am bothered by it. It bothers me that we've sunk so low as a nation -- and I'm not referring to one side or the other, by any stretch of the imagination -- that this is deemed a legitimate subject for complaint or ridicule.
