Wow! Now this Im VERY surprised about!

CHICAGO (WLS) - You might think what Republicans are doing in the Wisconsin statehouse can't happen here in Illinois because Democrats are in charge in Springfield.
But Bill Cameron says Democrats here are taking on one big union constituency.
Not even Democrats here in Illinois are happy about the statutes and contracts that give teachers so many benefits.
John Cullerton, the state senate president, says changes are coming.

This is Illinois for god's sake. It's all their politicians can do to stay out of prison.

Cullerton is advocating that some retirement income (probably over a certain amount) be subject to Illinois' new 5% state tax rate. That'll hit teachers squarely in their pocketbooks, for sure. Gov. Quinn says he's not averse to the idea. Kind of intriguing actually. Those unions better put him higher up on their donor list if they want that idea to go away.

Let's not get tooooo excited though:

Illinois Senate President John Cullerton reached out to his Wisconsin colleagues today to offer his support for their efforts to protect public service employees’ right to bargain and force good faith negotiations on how to save public dollars. Earlier today, Cullerton contacted the office of the Democratic Senate Leader in Wisconsin to offer his support and assistance.

In my opinion if you take tax payer money, you shouldnt be allowed to forum a union. Granted such a law would have to pass constitutional muster and not violate freedom of association.
 
All money is taxpayer money. It just goes through a longer chain with private business. It's subject to more people taking their cut. All money is wealth generated by the hard work of people like you and me.

Because the leftist think they have an absolute right to take everything you and your family have worked for. I think most people understand what taxpayer funded means and what taxes mean but the leftists, socialists, don't.

It gives his opposition a case of "whats the points" and they shut up because there is no teaching some people.
 
Maybe there is a slight bit of hope, but if this goes through, I'm predicting a bigger uproar in Illinois than Wisconsin and other states.
