Governor Scott Walker has lost the war

Gov. Scott Walker Has Lost The War - Rick Ungar - The Policy Page - Forbes

In what may be the result of one of the great political miscalculations of our time, Scott Walkerís popularity in his home state is fast going down the tubes.

A Rasmussen poll out today reveals that almost 60% of likely Wisconsin voters now disapprove of their aggressive governorís performance, with 48% strongly disapproving.

At this point....the national GOP is going to have to do major damage control.

Lost the war? Yet again author Rich Ungar has displayed his propensity to over-sensationalize the issue. Should the governor follow through on his campaign pledge not to raise taxes in the state, he will handily win re-election in 2014. By the time 14' rolls around Wisconsin voters will have had ample time to witness their Southern neighbor tax and spend itself into fiscal insolvency. Walker will be the war hero, and only time will tell if he has or has not won this BATTLE. Lost the war? Come on, the battles have not even begun yet--a bit premature for such proclamations.

Maybe after he has been Governor for 1 year they will try and recall him immediately, especially if he upsets enough people. He probably wouldn't serve in office for any longer period of time other than that which is needed to recall/replace him.

But ultimately even if/after they successfully recalled him, he might still be a good candidate for President in 2012 or at least he could write a book and host a TV news segment.

Indiana's Mitch Daniels did something like this, and his popularity dropped to 37%. Then he won reelection by 18 points in 2008 the Sweep Of Obama.

Here's the bare bones of where we go from here. there will be a meaningless adjustment to the language so that Democrats and Unions can tell each other that they forced compromise (perhaps public employee unions will retain collective bargaining rights over the alcoholic content at annual christmas parties), and the bill will pass. and then.... memory will fade. teachers will go back to school, having demonstrated to an entire state that they will go on strike and refuse to educate their kids. democratic senators will go back to the state capital, having played hooky on national television for a few weeks, and people will move on to the Next Issue. Wisconsin will be in better fiscal shape come next election, which along with incumbency will give Walker a hefty advantage. however the Unions will spend massive amounts of money broadsiding him (no one remembers slights and comes after you in politics like public sector unions)... which may or may not backfire on them like it did when they went after Chris Christie.

Liberals should join the Navy, because they spend like drunken sailors.
"He who does not think himself worth saving from poverty and ignorance by his own efforts, will hardly be thought worth the efforts of anybody else." -- Frederick Douglass, Self-Made Men (1872)
"Fly-over" country voted, and The Donald is now POTUS.
