You mean like the politically-motivated action of calling in sick to attend a political rally, instead of showing up for work to perform these vital services? The union representing the workers, the Communications Workers of America(CWA) put out a statement through its District One calling this a "politically-motivated attack on public workers who perform vital services."..
You can't make this stuff up.

... Some of you don't see a problem with lying to your employer about being sick, then skipping work to attend a political rally? Really?
especially when the rally is about pushing against your employer? this is like demanding to get paid to go on strike.

There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.... John Rogers

A few years ago at an old job of mine we had an employee that called in sick. Later on in the day her boss was driving home and had to go through a road construction site in order to get home. As she was going by the person that holds the stop/slow sign she sees the employee that called in sick that very same day. Next day that employee was fired.
Do you believe that the boss was in the rights? Or was the employee unfairly fired?
