It's past time to, "meddle", in Libya. At least get our people out.

Right now, in Libya, there are hundreds of Americans waiting for evacuation … by ferry.

Seriously. The State Department has chartered a ferry to take the hundreds of waiting Americans to Malta. But rough seas have delayed the ferry’s departure until Friday.

Wow. This is seriously embarrassing. A military superpower who can project forces anywhere in the world, has to get its people out of a dangerous country that is going to hell via a ferry?

This is a sad day.

Can't, or won't? I think it's more of the latter and our Chump in Charge is to blame.

These people went to work for big bucks avoiding US taxes in a dangerous country, and now they feel entitled to premier class rescue at the US taxpayers expense? Let them buy their own way home.

The airports are either closed or in a war zone. Candians chartered a plane and have 200 citizens stranded at Tripoli airport... but they can't get there. America has hundreds of people to evacuate and are taking as many non-citizens as possible. A ferry holds a hell of a lot more people than a plane.

I know it's difficult, but let's not make every topic in the forum about Obama. I wouldn't mind if it was amusing, but it's not. It's boring. I dislike being bored. :)

Uncle Sam typically bills evacuees for the service...

And if your salary is high enough, U.S. expats DO pay U.S. taxes...

Quoted for being the most rational post so far on this thread.

If one of those planes was shot down with a whole bunch of US civilians on it we'd never stop hearing about how Obama was rash in trying to get a plane in and out of a warzone while loaded with civilians.

I dont see the big deal here. The UK govt chartered a ferry as well. What is the big deal about using a ferry to take many people from one place to another? Thats what they,re designed for......... hence they name

But then we wont get to blow anything up :(

We still have to be careful about how we handle this Libyan situation. The last thing America needs is to get involved in another war of any kind.

As for getting out people out, let's try to remember there is a revolt/civil war going on not only in Libya but across most of the Arab world. And as war-time events go, they are always rift with chaos and disorder. Evacuation attempts are always part and parcel to that. I feel for my fellow Americans who are stranded throughout these troubled countries, but there's just gonna have to seek shelter and wait it out until American/NATO transports can get in and rescue them.

The United States has the most powerful navy in the world and we rent a friggin' ferry boat?

And, if that's not enough, they rented a ferry boat that was too small to handle the rough seas!

But no. Instead, the Obama Administration's response was to hire a commercial ferry from Malta. The Maltese Ferry was no falcon (apologies to Humphrey Bogart), swooping in to swiftly fly our endangered Americans to safety. Once it reached Tripoli harbor, it sat there for three days because the seas were too rough for it to sail. (I bet an American destroyer would not have delayed sailing because of weather.) So once our embattled Americans escaped from our unsafe embassy, they had to endure three days on a ferryboat unsuited to the venture -- all the while wondering if or when Gaddafi's planes or tanks might blow it and them out of the water.

Yeah, when Qadaffi threatened to kill Americans, Obama gladly backed down. Whatta ***** we have for a president.
