Fear can cause prices to rise more than supply.
Fear of a low supply. It's called, "supply and demand".

The oil industry isn't worried. They're going to make money beyond their wildest dreams as the unrest spreads. If there's one thing that we've learned about the oil industry over the past 30-40 years, it's that it cares about nothing but profit. The oil industry doesn't even care if America enters a depression because prices rise beyond affordability. We know this because they have been lobbying with success to block all alternatives to oil for decades now, even after the 70's recession and the OPEC crisis. They simply do not care.

Every time the oil industry says it cares, it's just public relations. All their actions, and I mean all of them, are evidence to the contrary. They would sell America to the devil if it could get them the very last dollar on planet earth. I can't wait for them to fall out of fashion.

2006 proved that fear of low supply has nothing to do with oil speculation. Record prices and record supplies. It's like speculation that caused the housing bubble. They were building houses faster than they could sell them and supplies were huge yet prices skyrocketed.

The price of crude oil today is not made according to any traditional relation of supply to demand. It’s controlled by an elaborate financial market system as well as by the four major Anglo-American oil companies. As much as 60% of today’s crude oil price is pure speculation driven by large trader banks and hedge funds

Invading Iraq and Afghanistan may have destabilized the region a little. Don't you think? You guys are giving him credit for the revolutions over there aren't you? Spreading democracy is a little destabilizing.

What GWB did sure didn't make the ME a more stable place, now did it?

To be replaced by sane alternatives which are already widely available. Nuclear is one.

Did he encourage democracy? Or did he just do it for the oil?

Whatever the reason, his actions did destabilized the entire region a little bit. Don't you agree?

Who really knows why Bush invaded Iraq.
