Ron Paul: ‘Government is in the process of failing’

Once again, Ron Paul has captured the hearts and the minds of Conservatives at the CPAC Conference, and it is likely that he will once again win the straw poll for president. Of course, that award is mainly symbolic, but does reflect the fact that Ron Paul, once considered to be somewhat of a nut, is beginning to finally prevail. He received thunderous applause when he mentioned closing bases we don't need, and to stop supporting dictators with our tax dollars.

Yes, Ron Paul was once seen as crazy. He was called crazy for supporting Pat Buchanan's call to build a border wall. The wall is now being built. He was called crazy for wanting to audit the Fed. Congress began serious consideration of that this week, and Paul heads the committee that is considering it. Ron Paul, during his speech, made a statement that we wouldn't have to end the Fed because the Fed would end itself.

    Very true.

But Ron Paul saved the best for last.

As for president, Barry Goldwater never got to be President, but he brought us Ronald Reagan. Who will Ron Paul bring us? I can't wait to find out. It is getting pretty ****ing exciting to be a Conservative these days. Pardon my language, but I ask no pardon for my enthusiasm.

Ron Paul has always had GOOD points. He's also been slightly off his rocker.

He's a good conservative firebrand, but nothing more.
Climate, changes. It takes a particularly uneducated population to buy into the idea that it's their fault climate is changing and further political solutions can fix it.

He's the only politician I can agree with most of the time and the only one I'd donate money to his campaign. He seems to be an honest, principled, politician. Such a rarity these days...

    Link to full CPAC speech

While other republicans seem to rallying many of the elderly, Ron Paul has a large following of young people. Republicans should be paying attention to him.

Eh, dont buy stock in that just yet. Remember if Dr. Paul becomes a Senator he looses all of his seniority for committees.

You also said White would be the Next Governor... so excuse me if I doubt your political insights.

How about a bet then? I lost the Bill White one to Texmaster. Perhaps you will grant me the opportunity to even the score? If Paul runs, he wins, barring a medical problem that forces him to drop out. Deal?

You got it. And either way, I am going to talk to my band about playing helotes. It's probably going to be a while, since this is a completely new lineup, but I look forward to a night of playing music and trash talking with Mr. V in San Antonio. If we play there, you get a pass.
